Chery B11. Manual - part 26

Driving

105

Ÿ

During vehicle inspection.

Ÿ

When exhaust system sounds

differently.

Ÿ

After physical accidents.

Some components of

engine exhausted gas and

some chemical composition of

vehicle parts,may result in

cancer,newborn baby defect or other

reproductive system harm.

Ventilation

When vehicle is parked to be idling at a

location in open air for a long time,

window should be open for at lease 2.5

centimeters. Otherwise you can turn on the

conditioning system which will allow

fresh air to come into the vehicle.

Remove the snow, leaves

or any other objects that block the

ventilation vents,in order to improve

the ventilation performance.

Adaptive Function of
Engine Control System

If the electrical cables have been

disconnected from batteries, then after

reconnecting, the vehicle runs a little

differently. This is because that the control

system is trying to adapt itself to the

engine, it can be ignored.

Engine Speed Controller

Engine speed is controlled by the engine

computer system.

Turn off the Engine

Driving

106

Release the accelerator pedal, turn the

ignition key to “Off” position after the

engine is idling.

Do not depress the

accelerator pedal before turning off

the engine.

If the vehicle has been running at high

speed for a long time, do not turn the

engine off right away. Instead, let the

engine run at a speed higher than idle

speed for 2 minutes gradually,in order to

make the engine cool gradually.

Notice:

When the engine and the ignition switch

are just turned off , the temperature is

still very high and the fan of cooling

system will continue to work for

approximate 10 minutes. Even after it

stops, high temperature might trigger it

to resume working . For this reason, you

have to be very careful when you get

close to the engine.

Braking System

Dual return circuit braking
system

Your vehicle is equipped with double-loop

braking system. If one of the loops fails to

work, the other one will take over the job.

When one of the braking

loop fails, Higher brake application

pressure is necessary, and your

vehicle travel longer before it’s

stopped. Under this condition the

systems should be checked by your

Chery Special Service Center as

soon as possible.

Brake Fluid

If brake lamps do not come on when   the

parking brake is released, brake fluid level

Driving

107

is too low.

Have the brake fluid level checked
periodically.

Fill brake fluid to the

"MAX" mark in the reservoir and

have the brake system checked by

Chery center.

Brake System Operation

It’s normal for the brake system to give off

noise when it’s working. But if it always

sounds like metal attrition, the brake pads

have probably reached their minimum

thickness and need to be replaced.

If you keep feeling the vibration when

applying the brake, have your vehicle

check at Chery Special Special Center.

The new brake pads do not achieve their

full optimal surface and wear pattern until

an initial break-in period has elapsed,

press the foot brake pedal harder as

compensation under this condition. This

also apply for   the newly replaced brake

pads.

Brake pads wear greatly depends on the

traffic condition and your driving style.

For vehicles that run in downtown areas,

brake pads wears faster due to frequent

starting and parking. Please follow the

“Care and Maintenance” and have your

brake discs checked and replaced by

Chery Special Service Center.

When you’re driving down slopes, shift to

lower gear to take advantage of the

engine’s own braking effect and offload

the brake system. Do not press and hold

the brake pedal unless necessary.

Wet brake discs will decrease brake

effectiveness. While driving in wed

condition, in rain or after a car wash, brake

pedal should be pressed lightly until the

attrition between brake discs and pads has

evaporated the moisture and brake

effectiveness has been fully recovered.

Note:

If your vehicle is equipped with a

airflow fender, assure the ventilation of

brake system, or it might be over

heated.

Brake Servo Unit

Notice:

Brake servo unit is controlled by engine

and it works only when the engine is

working. For this reason ,you should

not shut off the engine when driving

down slopes.

If for any reason the brake servo unit fails

to work, higher brake application

pressure may be necessary to compensate

for the failure of it.

Notice:

All pedals should be able to be pressed

all the way down and recover to its

original position when released.

For this reason, do not place foot mats or

any other objects near the pedals. If you

have to do so, make sure they do not move

or interfere with the operation of the

pedals.

Antilock Brake System (ABS)

ABS prevents the wheels from locking

when braking. It achieves steering control

in emergent situations and helps you to

avoid the obstacles.

When ABS works,

ABS does not work under normal

conditions, it only works when the wheels

are locking. The vibration of brake pedal

and noise indicate that the ABS is working.

This vibration and the noise are normal.

Under this condition do not release the

brake pedal.

Exploit the Full Benefits of the
ABS System

Under emergency pressing and holding the

brake pedal all the way down will trigger

the ABS and it provide steering control. If

there’s enough distance you can avoid

hitting the obstacles.

You are recommended to get familiar with

ABS but do not take unnecessary risk for

it.

Although ABS assure

shortest braking distance, brake
