Chery B11. Manual - part 27

Driving

109

distance depends greatly on road

surface condition. ABS does not

always shorten the brake distance.

On road surfaces that have a snow

or sands for example, braking

distances may be longer. ABS does

not assure safety  when the vehicle

in the front is too close, when driving

on wet condition or when you steer

too sharply. For these reasons please

drive carefully and reduce your

speed when steering.

ABS Self-Inspection

When engine is started, ABS will inspect

itself. It’s normal to hear mechanic noise

during this process.

When driving if the ABS warning

lamp lights, it indicates malfunction

of ABS. Please contact Chery Special

Service Center for service in this

case.

Important pricople
whicle makes use of

Make the braking
pedal depressed as
possible as you can
and holdit.

Turn the steering wheel ,derour..you
can keep the operational
derformance of making a turn
without exception ,no matter how
fierce the braking force is.

Driving

Principle of working with ABS:

1.  Press on the brake pedal all the way

down and hold it.

2.  Turn the steering wheel and get

around the obstacle, remain control
on the steering wheel no matter how
severe the vibration is.

Hand Brake

Pull up and engage the hand brake to

prevent the vehicle from rolling when

parking.

Do remember to engage the

parking brake before

leaving the vehicle.

When engaging the parking brake while

the engine is running, the brake lamp

lights up.

To apply parking brake, pull up the

parking brake handle.

To release the hand brake, pull the handle

up slightly, then press the release button

on the top of it and pull it down.

Parking brake acts to the rear wheels.

Hand brake lever is easier to pull up if you

pull it while pressing on the foot brake

pedal.

Power Steering

To avoid damaging the power steering

system:

Ÿ

While the engine is running, limit the

time the steering wheel is turned to

the extreme (left or right) for a few

seconds.

Ÿ

Adding steering oil, before the oil

drops below the “MIN” mark. Do

not drive the vehicle until the oil

level exceed the mark.

When power steering system fails or the

engine is shut off, steering wheel can still

be controlled, but increased effort will be

required to steer the vehicle.

If there is difficult steering or the vehicle

runs with vibration, please check the

followings:

Ÿ

tire pressure

Driving

Ÿ

whether the tread wear of the tires is

even.

Ÿ

whether suspension components are

loose or damaged.

Operation of Auto-shift

Auto-shift transmission in your vehicle is

a electronically- controlled  transmission

device with manual-shift option.

Shift Gear Level

P =   for Parking

R = for Reverse

N = for Neutral

D = for Driving

In Manual-shift mode

+ for shift to higher gear level

- for shift to lower gear level

P =Parking

At “P” position, transmission output axel

is locked and hence the driving wheels are

locked. If you leave the car without

placing the shift gear level at “P”, a

warning signal sound will be heard.

Shift to “P” only after the

vehicle has come to a full

stop.

Only when the foot brake pedal is pressed

and the ignition key is in position “ON”,

Driving

can the gear be shifted.

R = Reverse

Shift to “R” when you are reversing the

vehicle.

Shift to “R” only when the

vehicle has come to a full stop and

the engine is running at idle speed.

N = Neutral

Shift to “N” only when the engine is

running at idle speed or before starting the

engine. In “N” position, driving of engine

is not transmitted to the wheels.

D = Driving

Shift to “D” when driving.

Manual-shift Option

Manual-shift can be active only when the

shift gear level is in “D” position.

To shift to manual mode pull the gear

lever to the right hand side.

In manual mode, push the gear lever

towards “+” sign to shift to the next higher

gear; push the gear lever towards “-” sign

to shift to the next lower gear.

In manual mode, gear can be shifted to

higher level at any vehicle speed. But shift

to lower gear only when the vehicle slows

down to certain range of speeds.

Gear Display

When the engine is running, current gear

is displayed at the center of panel.

Gear is displayed as in following figures:

P  position

R position
