BYD e6A AUTO Owner's Manual
BYD e6A Operation and Driving 2-5 NOTICE Never add any rust inhibitor or other additives to the cooling system, since the additives may not be compatible with the coolant or motor components. Clean and refill the coolant based on the time elapsed or miles driven recommended in the regular maintenance chart. Only use BYD original long-life antifreeze coolant. Any use of non-original coolant or water could result in cooling system rusting and deposits accumulating. The operation of coolant draining is performed under the vehicle. Therefore, it should be done by an experienced technician unless you are familiar with it and have proper tools. a. Adjust the power switch to ON. Make sure the DUAL indicator lamp has been off. b. Open the engine cabin. Confirm that the motor, DC-DC, motor controller and radiator have cooled down and can be touched by hand. c. Turn the radiator cap counterclockwise (without pressing down), until it cannot be
turned any more. Hence, the residual
pressure in the cooling system can be
discharged completely. d. To remove the radiator cap, turn the cap
counterclockwise while pressing it. e. Unscrew the coolant drain valve at the bottom of radiator, from which the coolant will be drained out. f.
Remove the expansion tank assembly bolts. g. Remove the expansion tank from the bracket (pull it upward), and install it in place when the coolant is drained. Reinstall the assembly bolts. h. Retighten the coolant drain valve at the bottom of radiator after the coolant is drained completely. i.
Refill the radiator with BYD original glycol-based long-life antifreeze coolant until the coolant level reaches the lower edge of the coolant filler neck. The coolant does not require Premix. Cooling System capacity 7 L. j.
Power the water pump to run for approximately 5 minutes, and then power it off. k.
Refill the radiator with coolant until the coolant level reaches the lower edge of coolant filler neck. l.
Refill the expansion tank with coolant until the coolant level reaches the upper limit mark (MAX), and install the expansion tank cover. |
