Forward/Reverse Parking Distance Warning (PDW)

• Although you drive below 30 km/h (18

mph) again, the function will not turn

played on the cluster and infotain

ment system screen.

• When more than two objects are

detected at the same time, the closest
one will be warned with an audible
warning.

Types of warning sound and indicator

• The corresponding indicator will

appear whenever each ultrasonic
senor detects an object in its sensing
range.

• Only the front ultrasonic sensors warn

the driver when moving forward. The
rear and front sensors warn the driver
when moving backward. However, the
object must be within 60 cm (24
inches) from the front-side sensors to
operate.

• If an object is within 30 cm (12 inches)

from the ultrasonic sensors, the sen

sors may not detect the object, or a
sensor out of the detecting range may
warn the driver.

• Distance warning may not occur

sequentially depending on vehicle
speed or obstacle shape.

• Indicators and warning sounds may

differ from the illustration when
obstacles are located in the center of
the sensor, obstacles are located in
close proximity to the vehicle, or in
various circumstances.

• The shape of the indicator in the illus

tration may differ from the actual
vehicle.

Warning has a self-diagnosis function
that can determine whether the ultra

sonic sensor is working properly. After
starting the engine, a beep will sound
when the gear is shifted to R (Reverse)
to indicate the function is operating nor

mally.

However, if one or more of the following
occurs, first check whether the ultra

sonic senior is damaged or whether the
function is in a non-operating condition. If
it still does not work properly, have your
vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.
• The audible warning does not sound.

The buzzer sounds intermittently.

• The 'Ultrasonic sensor error or block

age' warning message appears on the
cluster.

Precautions of Forward/Reverse
Parking Distance Warning

• Forward/Reverse Parking Distance

Warning may malfunction if the vehi

cle bumper height or ultrasonic sen

sor installation has been modified or
damaged. Any non-factory installed
equipment or accessories may also
interfere with the sensor perfor

mance.

• When the ultrasonic sensor is frozen

or covered with snow, dirt, or water,
the sensor may not operate until the
degree has been removed using a
soft cloth.

• Do not push, scratch or strike the

ultrasonic sensor. Sensor damage
could occur.

• Do not spray the ultrasonic sensors or

its surrounding area directly with a
high pressure washer.

If the driver exits the vehicle through
another door besides the driver door,
the battery saver function does not
operate and the headlamp delay func

tion does not turn OFF automatically.

This may cause the battery to discharge.
To avoid battery discharge, turn OFF the
headlamps manually from the headlamp
switch before exiting the vehicle.

Features of your vehicle

Lighting

This vehicle is equipped with a variety of
lights to illuminate the interior and exte

rior of the vehicle.

CAUTION

To prevent the battery from being dis

charged, do not leave the headlamp and
interior light on for a prolonged time while
the engine is not running.

Battery saver function

The purpose of this feature is to prevent
the battery from being discharged if the
lights are left in the ON position. The
system automatically shuts off the park

ing lights after the engine is off and the
driver's door is opened.

However, the position lamps stay ON
even when the driver-side door is
opened if the light switch is operated
after the engine is turned off.

If necessary, to keep the lamps on turn
the position lamps OFF and ON again
using the headlamp switch on the steer

ing column after the engine is turned off.

Headlamp delay function

If you place the ignition switch or
ENGINE START/STOP button in the
ACC or OFF position with the headlamps
ON, the headlamps (and/or parking
lights) remain on for about 5 minutes.
How

ever, with the engine off if the

driver's door is opened and closed, the
head

lamps (and/or parking lights) are

turned off after 15 seconds.

The headlamps (and/or parking lights)
can be turned off by pressing the lock
button on the remote key or smart key
twice or turning the light switch to the
OFF or AUTO position. However, if you
turn the light switch to the AUTO posi

tion when it is dark outside, the head

lamps will not be turned off.

You can activate or deactivate the Head

lamp Delay function from the User Set

tings Mode in the LCD display. For more
details, refer to "User settings mode" on
page 4-82. If your vehicle is equipped
with additional navigation, please refer to
the infotainment system manual sep

arately supplied.

NOTICE

Daytime Running Light (DRL) (if
equipped)

The Daytime Running Light (DRL) can
make it easier for others to see the front
of your vehicle during the day.

The DRL can be helpful in many differ

ent driving conditions, and it is especially
helpful after dawn and before sunset.

The DRL will turn the dedicated lamp
OFF when:
• The headlamps are ON.

The vehicle is off.

• The front fog light is on. (if equipped)

Lighting

To operate the lights, turn the knob at
the end of the control lever to one of the
following positions:

1. OFF position

2. Auto light position

3. Position & Tail lamp

4. Headlamp position

Auto head lamp (OFF position)

The lights turn on or off depending on
the amount of daylight detected from the
sensor when the parking brake is not
activated or vehicle speed is above 5
km/h (3 mph).

Activating the parking brake when the
vehicle speed is less than 5 km/h (3
mph) turns the headlamps off automati

cally by the amount of daylight detected
from the sensor.

AUTO headlamp position

The parking lamp and headlamp will be
turned ON or OFF automatically
depending on the amount of daylight as
measured by the ambient light sensor on
the center dashboard.

NOTICE

Even with the AUTO headlamp feature
in operation, it is recommended to man

ually turn ON the headlamps when driv

ing at night or in a fog, driving in the rain,
or when you enter dark areas, such as
tunnels and parking facilities.
• Do not cover or spill anything on the

sensor located in front of the instru

ment panel.

• Do not clean the sensor using a win

dow cleaner, the cleanser may leave a
light film which could interfere with
sensor operation.

• If your vehicle has window tint or other

types of metallic coating on the front
windshield, the AUTO headlamp
system may not work properly.

Lighting

Position & Taillamp

When the light switch is in the lamp posi

tion, the front position lamp, taillamp, and
the license plate lamp will turn ON.

Headlamp (Low Beam)

When the light switch is in the headlamp
position, headlamp (low beam), tail,
license light will turn ON.

• Never place anything over the sensor

(1) located on the instrument panel as
this will ensure better auto-light sys

tem control.

• Don't clean the sensor using a window

cleaner, the cleaner may leave a light
film which could interfere with sensor
operation.

• If your vehicle has window tint or other

types of metallic coating on the front
windshield, the Auto light system may
not work properly.

NOTICE

The ignition switch or ENGINE START/
STOP button must be in the ON position
to turn on the headlamps.

When the light switch is in the AUTO

Lighting

Operating high beam

To turn on the high beam headlamp:

Push the lever away from you.

The lever will return to its original
position.

The high beam indicator will light
when the headlamp high beams are
switched on.

W ARNING

High beams
Do not use high beam when there are
other vehicles in front of or approaching
your vehicle. Using high beam could
obstruct the other driver's vision.

To flash the headlamps:
• Pull the lever towards you.

It will return to the normal (low beam)
position when released. The head

lamp switch does not need to be on to
use this flashing feature.

Operating turn signals and lane
change signals

The ENGINE START/STOP button
must be on for the turn signals to
function.

To turn on the turn signals:
• Move the lever up or down (A).

The green arrow indicators on the
instrument panel indicate which turn
signal is operating.

They will self-cancel after a turn is
completed. If the indicator continues
to flash after a turn, manually return
the lever to the OFF position.

To signal a lane change:
• Move the turn signal lever slightly and

hold it in position (B).

The lever will return to the OFF posi

tion when released.

If an indicator stays on and does not
flash or if it flashes abnormally, one of the
turn signal bulbs may be burned out and
will require replacement.

One-touch lane change function

To activate a one-touch lane change
function, move the turn signal lever

change signals will blink 3, 5 or 7 times.

You can activate or deactivate the One
Touch Turn Signal function or choose
the number of blinking (3, 5, or 7) by
selecting "User Settings

→Lights → One

NOTICE

If an indicator flash is abnormally quick
or slow, a bulb may be burned out or
have a poor electrical connection in the
circuit. The bulb may require replace

ment.

Operating front fog light

(if

equipped)

Fog lights are designed to provide
improved visibility when visibility is poor
due to fog, rain or snow, etc.

The fog lights will turn on when the fog
light switch (1) is turned to the on posi

tion after the headlamp is turned on.

To turn off the fog lights:
• Turn the fog light switch (1) to the ON

position.

CAUTION

When in operation, the fog lights con

sume large amounts of vehicle electrical

power. Only use the fog lights when visi

bility is poor.

High Beam Assist (HBA)

High Beam Assist is a function that auto

matically adjusts the headlamp range
(switches between high beam and low
beam) depending on the brightness of
detected vehicles and certain road con

ditions.

Detecting sensor

Front view camera

The front view camera is used as a
detecting sensor to detect ambient light
and brightness while driving.

Refer to the picture above for the detailed
location of the detecting sensor.

good condition to maintain optimal
performance of High Beam Assist.

• For more details on the precautions of

the front view camera, refer to"For

ward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)

High Beam Assist setting

With the ENGINE START/STOP button
in the ON position, select 'Lights

→ High

Beam Assist' from the Settings menu to
turn on High Beam Assist and deselect
to turn off the function.

W ARNING

For your safety, adjust your high beam
settings only after parking the vehicle at
a safe location.

High Beam Assist operation

Display and control

• After selecting 'High Beam Assist' in

the Settings menu, High Beam Assist
will operate by following the proce

dure below.

- Place the headlamp switch in the

AUTO position and push the head

lamp lever towards the instrument

cluster. The High Beam Assist (

)

indicator light will illuminate on the
cluster and the function will be
enabled.

- When the function is enabled, high

beam will turn on when vehicle
speed is above 40 km/h (25 mph).
When vehicle speed is below 25
km/h (15 mph), high beam will not
turn on.

- The High Beam (

) indicator light

will illuminate on the cluster when
high beam is on.

• When High Beam Assist is operating,

if the headlamp lever or switch is
used, the function operates as follows:

- If the headlamp lever is pulled

towards you when the high beam is
off, the high beam will turn on with

out High Beam Assist canceled.
When you let go of the headlamp
lever, the lever will move to the
middle and the high beam will turn
off.

- If the headlamp lever is pulled

towards you when the high beam is
on by High Beam Assist, low beam
will be on and the function will turn
off.

- If the headlamp switch is placed

from AUTO to another position
(headlamp/position/off), High
Beam Assist will turn off and the
corresponding lamp will turn on.

• When High Beam Assist is operating,

high beam switches to low beam if
any of the following conditions occur:

- When the headlamp of an oncom

ing vehicle is detected.

- When the taillamp of a vehicle in

front is detected.

- When the headlamp or taillamp of a

motorcycle or a bicycle is detected.

- When the surrounding ambient

light is bright enough that high
beams are not required.

- When streetlights or other lights are

detected.

When High Beam Assist is not working
properly, the 'Check High Beam Assist
(HBA) system' warning message will

appear and warning light (

be inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer.

Limitations

High Beam Assist may not work properly
in the following situations:
• Light from a vehicle is not detected

because of lamp damage, or because
it is hidden from sight, etc.

• Headlamp of a vehicle is covered with

dust, snow or water.

• A vehicle's headlamps are off but the

fog lamps are on and etc.

• There is a lamp that has a similar

shape as a vehicle's lamp.

• Headlamps have been damaged or

not repaired properly.

• Headlamps are not aimed properly.

Driving on a narrow curved road,
rough road, uphill or downhill.

• Vehicle in front is partially visible on a

crossroad or curved road.

• There is a traffic light, reflecting sign,

flashing sign or mirror ahead.

• There is a temporary reflector or flash

ahead (construction area).

• The road conditions are bad such as

being wet, iced or covered with snow.

• A vehicle suddenly appears from a

curve.

• The vehicle is tilted from a flat tire or

is being towed.

• Light from a vehicle is not detected

because of exhaust fume, smoke, fog,
snow, etc.

NOTICE

For more details on the limitations of the
front view camera, refer to "Forward Col

lision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) (Front view
camera only) (if equipped)" on page 5-
62.

NOTICE

• At times, High Beam Assist may not

work properly. The function is for your
convenience only. It is the responsibil

ity of the driver for safe driving prac

tices and always check the road
conditions for your safety.

• When High Beam Assist does not

operate normally, change the head

lamp position manually between high
beam and low beam.

substances from the windshield and rear
window, helping to maintain visibility.

• OFF: Wiper is not in operation
• INT: Wiper operates intermittently at

the same wiping intervals. Use this
mode in light rain or mist. To vary the
speed setting, turn the speed control
knob.

• LO: Normal wiper speed

NOTICE

If there is heavy accumulation of snow or
ice on the windshield, defrost the
windshield for about 10 minutes, or until
the snow and/or ice is removed before
using the windshield wipers to ensure
proper operation. If you do not remove
the snow and/or ice before using the
wiper and washer, it may damage the
wiper and washer system.

W ARNING

Do not use the washer in freezing tem

peratures without first warming the
windshield with the defrosters; the
washer solution could freeze on the
windshield and obscure your vision.

• When washing the vehicle, set the

wiper switch in the OFF position to
stop the auto wiper operation.

The wiper may operate and be dam

aged if the switch is set in the AUTO
mode while washing the vehicle.

• Do not remove the sensor cover

located on the upper end of the pas

senger side windshield glass. Damage
to system parts could occur and may
not be covered by your vehicle war

ranty.

• When starting the vehicle in winter, set

the wiper switch in the OFF posi

tion.

Otherwise, wipers may operate and
ice may damage the windshield wiper
blades. Always remove all snow and
ice and defrost the windshield properly
prior to operating the wind

shield

wipers.

• When tinting the windshield, be care

ful of any fluid getting into the sensor
located in the top center of the front
windshield. It may damage related
parts.

Auto control (if equipped)

The rain sensor (A) located on the upper
end of the windshield glass senses the
amount of rainfall and controls the wip

ing cycle for the proper interval. The
more it rains, the faster the wiper oper

ates. When the rain stops, the wiper
stops.

To vary the speed setting, turn the
speed control knob (B).

If the wiper switch is set in AUTO mode
when the ignition switch or ENGINE
START/STOP button is ON, the wiper
will operate once to perform a self-check
of the system. Set the wiper to OFF
position when the wiper is not in use.

W ARNING

When the ignition switch or ENGINE
START/STOP button is ON and the
wind

shield wiper switch is placed in the

AUTO mode, use caution in the following
situations to avoid any injury to the hands
or other parts of the body:
• Do not touch the upper end of the

windshield glass facing the rain sen

sor.

• Do not wipe the upper end of the

windshield glass with a damp or wet
cloth.

• Do not put pressure on the windshield

glass.

Wipers and washers

Operating windshield washers

1. Move the wiper speed control switch

to the OFF position.

2. Pull the lever gently toward you to

spray washer fluid on the windshield
and to run the wipers 1-3 cycles. Use
this function when the windshield is
dirty. The spray and wiper operation
will continue until you release the
lever.

If the washer does not work, check the
washer fluid level. If the fluid level is not
sufficient, you will need to add appropri

ate non-abrasive windshield washer
fluid to the washer reservoir.

The reservoir filler neck is located in the
front of the engine compartment on the
passenger side.

CAUTION

To prevent possible damage to the
washer pump, do not operate the
washer when the fluid reservoir is
empty.

W ARNING

Do not use the washer in freezing tem

peratures without first warming the
windshield with the defrosters; the

washer solution could freeze on the
windshield and obscure your vision.

CAUTION

• To prevent possible damage to the

wipers or windshield, do not operate
the wipers when the windshield is dry.

• To prevent damage to the wiper

blades, do not use gasoline, kerosene,
paint thinner, or other solvents on or
near them.

• To prevent damage to the wiper arms

and other components, do not attempt
to move the wipers manually.

• To prevent possible damage to the

wipers and washer system, use anti-
freezing washer fluids in the winter
season or cold weather.

Operating rear window wiper and
washer switch

The rear window wiper and washer
switch is located at the end of the wiper
and washer switch lever.
• Turn the switch to the desired position

to operate the rear wiper and washer.

• HI - Normal wiper operation
• LO - Intermittent wiper operation

Headlamp (headlamp) escort
function

The headlamps (and/or taillamps)
remain on for approximately 5 minutes
after the ignition key is removed or
turned to the ACC or LOCK position.
However, if the driver's door is opened
and closed, the headlamps are turned
off after 15 seconds.
The headlamps can be turned off by
pressing the lock button on the transmit

ter or smart key twice or turning off the

• Push the lever away from you to spray

rear washer fluid and to run the rear
wipers several times.

The spray and wiper operation will con

tinue until you release the lever.

When the front wiper is activated and the
gear is switched to R (Reverse) posi

tion, the rear wiper will be activated once
to provide better visibility.

Welcome system (if equipped)

The welcome system is a function that
illuminates the surroundings or the inte

rior when the driver approaches or exits
the vehicle.

Door handle lamp (if equipped)

When all the doors (and liftgate) are
closed and locked, the door handle lamp
will come on for about 15 seconds if any
of the below is performed.
• When the door unlock button is

pressed on the smart key.

• When the button of the outside door

handle is pressed.

• When the vehicle is approached with

the smart key in possession.

Interior lights

Interior light

When the interior light switch is in the
DOOR position and all doors (and lift

gate) are locked and closed, the room
lamp will come on for 30 seconds if any
of the following occurs:
• With the smart key system

- When the door unlock button is

pressed on the smart key.

- When the button of the outside

door handle is pressed.

At this time, if you press the door lock
button, the lamps will turn off immedi

ately.

Interior lights

This vehicle is equipped with lights
throughout the vehicle to illuminate the
interior.

CAUTION

Do not use the interior lights for extended
periods when the engine is not running.

It may cause battery discharge.

W ARNING

Do not use the interior lights when driv

ing in the dark. Accidents could happen
because the view may be obscured by
interior lights.

Automatic turn off function

The interior lights automatically turn off
approximately 20 minutes after the
ENGINE START/STOP button is
turned off, if the lights are in the ON
position.

If your vehicle is equipped with the theft
alarm system, the interior lights auto

matically turn off approximately 5 sec

onds after the system is armed.

• Press the lens (1) to turn ON the map

lamp.

To turn the map lamp OFF press the
lens (1) again.

(2): DOOR mode

- The map lamp and room lamp

come on when a door is opened.
The lamps go out after approxi

mately 30 seconds.

- The map lamp and room lamp

come on for approximately 30 sec

onds when doors are unlocked with
a smart key as long as the doors
are not opened.

- The map lamp and room lamp will

stay on for approximately 20 min

utes if a door is opened with the
ENGINE START/STOP button in
the ACC or OFF position.

- The map lamp and room lamp will

stay on continuously if the door is
opened with the ENGINE START/
STOP button in the ON position.

- The map lamp and room lamp will

go out immediately if the ENGINE
START/STOP button is changed
to the ON position or all doors are
locked.

- To turn off the DOOR mode, press

the DOOR button (2) once again
(not pressed).

(3): Press this switch to turn the

front and rear room lamps on and off.

NOTICE

The DOOR mode and ROOM mode
can not be selected at a time.

Personal lamp

Press the switch to turn the room lamp
on and off.

Luggage room lamp

Vanity mirror lamp

Push the switch to turn the light on or
off.

: The lamp will turn on if this but

ton is pressed.

CAUTION

Vanity mirror lamp
Always close the lid of the vanity mirror
in the off position when the vanity mirror
lamp is not in use. If the sun visor is

glove box is opened.

To prevent unnecessary charging sys

tem drain, close the glove box securely
after using the glove box.

Climate control system

The climate control system uses cooling
and heating to help maintain a pleasant
environment inside the vehicle.

System operation

Ventilation

1. Set the mode to the

position.

2. Set the air intake control to the out

side (fresh) air position.

3. Set the temperature control to the

desired position.

4. Set the fan speed control to the

desired speed.

Heating

1. Set the mode to the

Climate control system

• Air for the heating/cooling system is

drawn in through the grilles just at the
base of the windshield. Care should
be taken that these are not blocked by
leaves, snow, ice or other obstruc

tions.

• To prevent fog from forming on the

inside of the windshield:

- Set the air intake control to the fresh

air position and the fan speed to the
desired position.

- Turn on the air conditioning sys

tem, and adjust the temperature
control to desired temperature.

Air conditioning (A/C)

All Kia air conditioning systems are filled
with R-1234yf refrigerant.

1. Start the vehicle. Press the A/C but

2. Set the mode to the

CAUTION

• The refrigerant system should only be

serviced by trained and certified tech

• The refrigerant system should be ser

viced in a well-ventilated place.

• The air conditioning evaporator (cool

ing coil) shall never be repaired or
replaced with one removed from a
used or salvaged vehicle and new
replacement MAC evaporators shall
be certified (and labeled) as meeting
SAE Standard J2842.

CAUTION

Excessive air conditioning use
When using the air conditioning system,
monitor the temperature gauge closely
while driving up hills or in heavy traffic
when outside temperatures are high. Air
conditioning system operation may
cause vehicle overheating. Continue to
use the blower fan but turn the air con

ditioning system off if the temperature
gauge indicates vehicle overheating.

CAUTION

The air conditioning system should only
be used with the windows and sunroof
closed to prevent condensation inside
the vehicle that may cause damage to
electrical components.

Air conditioning system opera

tion tips

• If the vehicle has been parked in

direct sunlight during hot weather,
open the windows for a short time to
let the hot air inside the vehicle
escape.

• To help reduce moisture inside of the

windows on rainy or humid days,
decrease the humidity inside the vehi

cle by operating the air conditioning
system.

• During air conditioning system opera

tion, you may occasionally notice a
slight change in vehicle speed as the
air conditioning compressor cycles.
This is a normal characteristic of sys

tem operation.

• To ensure maximum system perfor

mance, the air conditioning system
should be run for a few minutes each
month.

• When using the air conditioning sys

tem, you may notice clear water drip

ping (or even puddling) on the ground
under the passenger side of the vehi

cle. This is a normal characteristic of
system operation.

• Operating the air conditioning system

in the recirculated air position pro

vides maximum cooling; however,
continual operation in this mode may
cause the air inside the vehicle to
become stale.

• During cooling operation, you may

occasionally notice a misty air flow
because of rapid cooling and humid
air intake. This is a normal character

istic of system operation.

Climate control air filter

The climate control air filter installed
behind the glove box filters the dust or
other pollutants that come into the vehi

cle from the outside through the heating
and air conditioning system.

A: Outside air

B: Recirculated air

C: Climate control air filter

D: Blower

E: Evaporator core

F: Heater core

If dust or other pollutants accumulate in
the filter over a period of time, the air flow
from the air vents may decrease. This
leads to moisture accumulating on the
inside of the windshield even when the
outside (fresh) air position is selected. If
this happens, have the cli

mate control

air filter replaced by an authorized Kia
dealer.

NOTICE

• Replace the filter according to the

Maintenance Schedule. If the vehicle
is being driven in severe conditions
such as dusty or rough roads, more
frequent air conditioner filter inspec

tions and changes are required.

• When the air flow rate suddenly

decreases, have the system checked
by an authorized Kia dealer.

Checking the amount of air con

ditioner refrigerant and compres

sor lubricant

When the amount of refrigerant is low,
the performance of the air conditioning
is reduced. Overfilling also has a nega

tive impact on the air conditioning sys

tem.

Therefore, if abnormal operation is found,
have the system inspected by an
authorized Kia dealer.

W ARNING

The oil and refrigerant in your vehicle's
air conditioning system is under very high
pressure. If proper service proce

dures

are not followed, an explosion may result.
To reduce the risk of serious injury or
death, the air conditioning sys

tem in

your vehicle should only be ser

tioning system in your vehicle should only
be serviced by trained and certified
technicians.

Since the refrigerant is mildly flammable
and operated at high pressure, the air
conditioning system should only be ser

viced by trained and certified techni

cians.

It is important that the correct type and

Mode selection

The mode selection buttons control the
direction of the air flow through the ven

tilation system.

Air can be directed to the floor, dash

board outlets, or windshield. Five sym

bols are used to represent Face, Bi-
Level, Floor, Floor-Defrost and Defrost
air position.

Face-Level (B, D, H)

Air flow is directed toward the upper
body and face. Additionally, each outlet
can be controlled to direct the air dis

charged from the outlet.

Bi-Level (B, C, D, E, F, H)

Air flow is directed towards the face and
the floor.

Floor-Level (A, C, D, E, F, H)

Most of the air flow is directed to the
floor, with a small amount of the air
being directed to the windshield, side
window defrosters and side air vents.

Floor/Defrost-Level (A, C, D, E, F,

H)
Most of the air flow is directed to the
floor and the windshield with a small

amount directed to the side window
defrosters and side air vents.

Defrost-Level (A, D)

You can adjust the direction of air deliv

ered from these vents using the vent
control lever as shown.

Temperature control

The temperature control knob allows you
to control the temperature of the air
flowing from the ventilation system.

To change the air temperature in the
passenger compartment, turn the knob
to the right for warm and hot air or to the
left for cooler air.

NOTICE

When starting the vehicle in cold weather
using manual temperature con

trol,

operate the system in the following
method to improve heating:

• Turn off or lower the blower, right

after starting the engine.

• Allow the engine to warm up during

this time since the air flow from the
heater is still cold.

• After a few minutes of engine warm

up, turn on or set the fan to a higher
level and adjust the temperature set

ting to hot.

Max A/C selection

To operate the MAX A/C, turn the tem

perature knob all the way to the left. Air
flow is directed toward the upper body
and face.

In this mode, the air conditioning and the
recirculated air position will be selected
automatically.

Controlling air intake

outside (fresh) air position or recircu

NOTICE

Prolonged operation of the heater in the
recirculated air position (without air con

ditioning selected) may cause fogging of
the windshield and side windows and
make the air in the passenger compart

ment stale.

In addition, prolonged use of the air con

ditioning with the re-circulated air posi

tion selected will result in excessively dry
air, musty/stale smells and/or odors in the
passenger compartment.

W ARNING

• Continued use of the climate control

system in the recirculated air position
may allow humidity to increase inside
the vehicle which may fog the glass
and obscure visibility.

• Do not sleep in a vehicle with the air

conditioning or heating system on. It
may cause serious harm or death due
to a drop in the oxygen level and/or
body temperature.

• Continuously using the climate control

system in the recirculated air position
can cause drowsiness or sleepiness,
and loss of vehicle control. Set the air

Heating and air conditioning manually

The heating and cooling system can be controlled manually by pressing buttons
other than the AUTO button.

In this case, the system works sequentially according to the order of buttons selected.

1. Start the vehicle.

2. Set the mode to the desired position.

For improving the effectiveness of heating and cooling;

3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.

4. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.

5. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.

If air conditioning is desired, turn the air conditioning system on.
