INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU

(a) Check that the ignition switch is OFF.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the battery negative (-) terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent

airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

(c) Attach the claw and install the occupant detection ECU to the front seat assembly RH.

NOTICE:

If the occupant detection ECU has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the
case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
When installing the occupant detection ECU, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other
parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the
negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative

(-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some

systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected 

 

.

1. INSPECTION PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT

.

The occupant classification ECU is replaced.

Accessories (seatback tray and seat cover, etc.) are installed.

The front seat RH is removed from the vehicle.

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator (OFF) comes on when the front seat RH is not occupied.

The vehicle is brought to the workshop for repair due to an accident or a collision.

NOTICE:

When a vehicle that has been in an accident is brought into the workshop for repair, check the flatness of

the floor where the front seat RH is mounted. If the flatness is not within +/-3.0 mm (0.118 in.), adjust it to
the specified range.
