INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the
negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative

(-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some

systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected 

 

.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

2.

CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the air

conditioning control.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

3.

CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the air conditioning control.

(b) Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and air conditioning control side) are

not damaged.

OK:

The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG

REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

4.

CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR

(a) Connect the connector to the air conditioning control.

(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and

wait for at least 2 seconds.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(d) Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

OK:

The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator does not come on.

NG

GO TO STEP 6

5.

CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1660/4...

(a) Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.

(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and

wait for at least 2 seconds.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60

seconds.

(d) Clear the DTCs

(e) Turn the ignition switch off.

(f) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60

seconds.

(g) Check for DTCs
