Supplemental Restraint System - Clockspring

Removal and Installation

Removal

Make the SRS system safe.

CAUTION: Make sure that the road wheels are in the

straight ahead position.

Remove the steering wheel.

Refer to: 

Steering Wheel

 (211-04 Steering Column, Removal and

Installation).

Release the steering column adjustment lever.

3.

Remove the steering column upper cowl.

4.

Remove the steering column lower cowl.

CAUTION: Make sure that the clockspring rotor

does not rotate.

Remove the clockspring.

Installation

1. 

CAUTION: Correct clockspring alignment can be found by

viewing a yellow marker through the window situated on the
clockspring face, at the 8 o'clock position. If the marker is not
visible, carefully turn the clockspring fully clockwise. Turn the
clockspring in a counterclockwise direction 3.25 turns. The yellow
marker should now be in the central position.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

• NOTE: The occupant classification sensor is part of the passenger seat cushion. The sensor is only fitted to NAS models.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Remove the front seat cushion cover.

Installation

Install the front seat cushion cover.

Connect the battery ground cable.

Using IDS, configure a new occupant classification sensor.

Remove the front scuff plate trim panel.

3.

Torque: 10 Nm

Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
