CHECK DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK SWITCH

1. Disconnect door lock/unlock switch harness connector.
2. Check continuity between each door lock/unlock switch terminals.

CHECK DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL (LOCK/UNLOCK SIGNAL)

With CONSULT-II

Check front door key cylinder switch (“KEY CYL LK-SW”/“KEY CYL UN-SW”) in “DATA MONITOR” mode with CONSULT-
II.

Check voltage between smart entrance control unit harness connector M143 terminals 10 (OR/L) or 11 (OR/B) and
ground.

Speedometer, odo/trip meter, tachometer, fuel gauge and water temperature gauge are controlled totally
by control unit built-in combination meter.

Digital meter is adopted for odo/trip meter.*
*The record of the odo meter is kept even if the battery cable is disconnected. The record of the trip meter
is erased when the battery cable is disconnected.

I

Odo/trip meter is indicated for about 30 seconds after ignition switch has been turned OFF.

I

Odo/trip meter segment can be checked in diagnosis mode.

I

Meter/gauge can be checked in diagnosis mode.

WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE

The water temperature gauge indicates the engine coolant temperature. The reading on the gauge is based
on the resistance of the thermal transmitter.
As the temperature of the coolant increases, the resistance of the thermal transmitter decreases. A variable
ground is supplied to terminal 18 of the combination meter for the water temperature gauge. The needle on
the gauge moves from “C” to “H”.

TACHOMETER

The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm).
The tachometer is regulated by a signal

from terminal 25 of the ECM

to combination meter terminal 16 for the tachometer.

FUEL GAUGE

The fuel gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the fuel tank.
The fuel gauge is regulated by a variable ground signal supplied

to combination meter terminal 17 for the fuel gauge

I

from terminal 2 of the fuel level sensor unit

I

through terminal 5 of the fuel level sensor unit and

I

through body ground B7 and B12 (without rear sunshade) or B46 (with rear sunshade)

SPEEDOMETER

The combination meter provides a voltage signal to the vehicle speed sensor for the speedometer.
The voltage is supplied

I

from combination meter terminal 15 for the speedometer

I

to terminal 1 of the vehicle speed sensor (with TCS)

I

to terminal 19 of ABS actuator and electric unit (without TCS)

The speedometer converts the voltage into the vehicle speed displayed.
