9. Verify that the tabs on the lower trim cover (1) engage with the tabs on the upper trim cover (2). Snap the 

tabs together. 

Tighten: Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).

10. On vehicles with a tilt column, align the tilt lever into the steering column.  

11. Slide the tilt lever handle into the steering column until the handle locks into position.

12. Install the steering wheel onto the steering shaft. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering 

Wheel and Column.  

13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 .  

INFLATABLE RESTRAINT INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE REPLACEMENT 

Removal Procedure 

1. Remove trim panel replacement-I/P accessory right- from the I/P substraight (1). Refer to Trim Plate 

Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory Right in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.  

2. Disable the SIR system (2). Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zones .

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in Cautions and 

Notices.

3. Remove the connector from the I/P.
