Removal and Installation 

Removal 

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details. 

1. Remove the cowl panel grille.  

Refer to: 

Cowl Panel Grille

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.  

Refer to: 

Battery Disconnect and Connect

Procedures). 

3. Torque: 10 Nm 

4. Clean the area around the fuel injectors.

Installation 

1. Torque:  

5 Nm 
9 Nm 

Stage 1: 
Stage 2: 

2. If installing a new camshaft position (CMP) 

sensor, position the CMP sensor so that the tip of 
the sensor is in contact with the camshaft pulley 
and tighten the retaining bolt.  

Torque: 

2 Nm 

3. If installing the original CMP sensor, position the 

CMP sensor so that the tip of the sensor is in 
contact with the camshaft pulley.  

Torque: 

2 Nm 

4.   

Measure the distance between the CMP 
sensor and the intake manifold (X).  
Pull back the CMP sensor until the distance 
between the CMP sensor and the intake 
manifold = X + 1.2 mm, and tighten the 
retaining bolt. 

5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
