WARNING: Only rotate the crankshaft 

clockwise. 

Turn the crankshaft until no. 1 piston is at about 
45° before TDC.

Installation 

1. Install the crankshaft oil seal. 

Refer to: Kurbelwellendichtring vorn (303-01A 
Motor - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4), Removal and 
Installation).

WARNING: Only rotate the camshaft 

clockwise. 

Turn the camshafts to cylinder no. 4 valve 
overlap position. 

3. Install the special tool. 

Special Tool(s):

WARNING: Only rotate the crankshaft 

clockwise. 

Turn the crankshaft until it stops against the 
special tool.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolt finger tight at 
this stage.

11. Remove the special tool.

WARNING: Only rotate the crankshaft 

clockwise. 

Turn the crankshaft one and three quarters of a 
turn until no. 1 piston is at about 45° before 
TDC. 

14. Install the special tool. 

Special Tool(s):

WARNING: Only rotate the crankshaft 

clockwise. 

Turn the crankshaft until it stops against the 
special tool.  

16.

NOTE: Only tighten the bolt finger tight at 
this stage. 
NOTE: The bolt can only be installed if the 
valve timing is correct.
