The Cruise Control can be dangerous

if the system cannot keep a constant

speed. In specific conditions speed may

be excessive, resulting in the risk of losing

control of the car and causing accidents.

Do not use the device in heavy traffic or on

winding, icy, snowy or slippery roads.

SPEED LIMITER

(for versions/markets, where provided)

This a driving assistance device that

limits the speed of the car as set by the

driver. The maximum speed can be set

both with car stationary and in motion.

The speed is programmable between

30 and 130 km/h.

When the device is active, the car

speed depends on the pressure

at the accelerator pedal, until the

programmed speed limit is reached

(see "Speed limit programming"

paragraph).

and visual warning is activated, while

the sped is limited after approximately

20 seconds. The device is activated

by means of the SET+/SET

only if the car speed is comprised

between 30 and 130 km/h. In this

case, the device is activated at the

current speed.

Device deactivation

: press the CANC

button. The activation of the device is

indicated by the

green symbol on

the display. In case of deactivation,
instead, the

symbol appears white.

Device reactivation

: press the RES

button.

EXCEEDING THE

PROGRAMMED SPEED

By fully depressing the accelerator

pedal, the programmed speed can be

exceeded even with the device active

(e.g. in the event of overtaking).
The device is disabled until the speed

drops below the set limit, after which it

reactivates automatically.

PROGRAMMED SPEED

FLASHING

The programmed speed flashes in the

following cases:

when the accelerator pedal has

been fully depressed and the car has

exceeded the programmed speed;

activating the system after setting a

limit below the effective speed of the

car. An acoustic signal will sound also

in this case;

when the device cannot reduce the

speed of the car due to the gradient of

the road. An acoustic signal will sound

also in this case;

in the event of sharp acceleration. An

acoustic signal will sound also in this

case.

DISENGAGEMENT OF

: the

device deactivates automatically in the

event of fault in the system. Go to a

on the central tunnel, in front of the

gear lever (see fig. 136), the device

can be used to select three different

car response modes according to the

driving style and road conditions:

“NORMAL” MODE

It is a driving mode aimed at comfort

and safety in normal grip and driving

conditions. “Normal” is the default

mode: the following screen on the

“TRACTION +” MODE

This system is designed to assist

setting off on slippery surfaces (e.g.

snow, ice, mud, etc.) by distributing the

drive force in optimal manner on the

front axle.

By braking the wheels with poor grip

(or those slipping more than the

others), the system transfers the drive

force to the wheels which have more

grip on the ground.

Activating the “Traction +” system will

generate a front axle differential lock

effect to optimise traction on uneven

surfaces by means of the braking

system.

Activation

Turn the ring rightwards (position (B)

fig. 136) and hold in this position for

half a second and in all cases until the

corresponding LED lights up and the

“Traction +” mode activation indicator

appears on the display fig. 136. Once

released, the ring returns to the central

position.

This system operations at speed

under 30 km/h: over this speed it

is automatically deactivated and is

reactivated as soon as the speed drops

under 30 km/h. In this case, the LED

on the ring remains on.

Deactivation

To deactivate “Traction +” mode and

go back to “Normal” mode, turn the

ring leftwards and hold this position

for half a second. In this case, the LED

related to “Normal” mode will light up

and the indication that “Traction +”

mode has been deactivated will appear

on the display.

WARNING If “Traction +” or “Normal”

modes are selected when the engine is

stopped, the mode will be maintained

when starting again.

WARNING In “Traction +” mode, the

Start&Stop system is temporarily

deactivated (LED on the Start&Stop

system button on). To reactivate the

Start&Stop system with “Traction

+” mode on, press the Start&Stop

button located on the dashboard. The

Start&Stop system will be activated

again when “Traction +” mode is

deactivated.

WARNING The City Brake Control

- “Collision Mitigation” system

is temporarily deactivated when

“Traction +” mode is deactivated.

Temporary deactivation of the system
is indicated by the warning light

on

the instrument panel (together with a

message on the display). The City

Brake Control - “Collision Mitigation”

system will be activated again when

“Traction +” mode is deactivated.

"GRAVITY CONTROL" FUNCTION

This driving function aims at

maintaining a constant speed when

driving downhill on a steel gradient.

Noise and vibrations from the wheel

sides (brakes) are normal when the

function is active.

WARNING The function can only be

selected with “Traction +” mode active,

engine running, parking brake released

and driver side door correctly closed.

Activation

To activate the function, go to a speed

slower than 25 km/h. After reaching the

desired speed, release the accelerator

and brake pedals completely. If you

want to increase/decrease the speed,

press the accelerator and brake pedals

again.

Activation

Turn the ring rightwards (position (C)

fig. 136) and hold in this position for

half a second and in all cases until

the corresponding LED lights up and

the “Gravity Control” mode activation

indicator appears on the display

Once released, the ring returns to the

central position. The “Gravity Control”

is ready to work when the “Gravity

Control” function is selected.

Deactivation

To deactivate “Gravity Control” mode,

turn the ring leftwards and hold this

position for half a second.

In this case, the LED related to

“Traction +” mode will light up and

the indication that “Gravity Control”

function has been deactivated will

appear on the display.

The “Gravity Control” function is always

deactivated when the engine is started.

WARNING DO NOT USE THE DEVICE

WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN

NEUTRAL.

WARNING The function is available at

speeds from 7 km/h to 25 km/h.

WARNING It is important to engage

a gear suitable for the set speed,

to prevent the engine from stalling.

While the “Gravity Control” system is

operating it is always possible to take

control of the car again by pressing

the brake and accelerator pedals. If

the function is not available when an

attempt to activate it made, it could

mean that the brakes are overheated.

In this case, wait a few minutes before

using the function again.

WARNING The function will be

deactivated in case of brake

overheating by gradually releasing the

braking pressure leaving the driver in

control of the car. Deactivation of the

function is indicated by the flashing
of the symbol

on the display

(in combination with a dedicated

message) and acoustic warning. To

reactivate the function, wait for the

braking system to cool down and then

operate on the ring located on the

central tunnel again.

WARNING The “Gravity Control”

function is deactivated when exceeding

25 km/h and at speeds lower than

50 km/h it remains enabled to be

reactivated when the speed drops

under 25 km/h. In this case, the

indication on the display is switched

off and the LED on the ring stays on.

If the speed exceeds 50 km/h, the

“Gravity Control” function is completely

deactivated and all automatic actions

on the brakes by the function are

disabled. To reactivate it, turn the ring

again when the speed is again below

25 km/h. It is advisable to use the

function in low gears (first, second and

third).

WARNING On flat city streets, it is

advisable to deactivate the “Gravity

Control” function because at speeds

slower than 25 km/h the function could

be reactivated in particular conditions

(setting off, shifting gear or on speed

bumps without using the accelerator

pedal).

PARKING SENSORS

SENSORS

The sensors are located in the rear

bumper fig. 140 and their function is to

detect the presence of any obstacles

near the rear part of the car and inform

the driver through an intermittent

acoustic signal and visual indication on

the instrument panel display.

WARNINGS ON THE

DISPLAY

The parking system indications appear

on the instrument panel display (see

figure).
The system indicates the presence

of an obstacle by displaying a single

arc in one of the possible areas, in

accordance with the distance of the

object and the position in relation to the

car. If the obstacle is detected in the

rear central area, a single arc will be

displayed as the obstacle approaches,

first constant, then flashing, in addition

to an acoustic signal.

The system indicates the presence

of an obstacle by displaying a single

arc in one of the possible areas, in

accordance with the distance of the

object and the position in relation to

the car. A single arc which is firstly

fixed and then blinks will appear as the

distance from the obstacle reduces in

addition to an acoustic tone firstly in

rapid sequence and then continual.

ACTIVATION /

DEACTIVATION

The sensors are automatically activated

when reverse gear is engaged. As the

obstacle behind the car gets closer to

the car, the acoustic signal becomes

more frequent.

ACOUSTIC WARNING

When reverse gear is engaged and

there is an obstacle behind the vehicle,

an acoustic signal is emitted which

varies according to the distance of the

bumper from the obstacle.
The frequency of the acoustic warning:

increases

as the distance

between car and obstacle decreases,

culminating in a continuous acoustic

signal, when the distance is less than

approximately 30 cm;

decreases

if the distance from the

obstacle increases, until the signal

ceases entirely;

remains constant

if the distance

between the car and the obstacle is

unchanged. If this situation concerns

the side sensors, the signal will stop

after approximately 3 seconds to avoid,

for example, indications in the event

of manoeuvres along a wall. If several

obstacles are detected by the sensors,

only the nearest one is considered.

OPERATION WITH A

TRAILER

The operation of the sensors is

automatically deactivated when the

trailer electric cable plug is inserted in

the tow hook socket of the car. The

sensors are automatically reactivated

when the trailer's cable plug is

removed.

GENERAL WARNINGS

When parking, take the utmost care

over obstacles that may be above or

under the sensor.
Under certain circumstances, objects

close to the car are not detected by

the system and could therefore cause

damage to the car or be damaged

themselves.
Some conditions may influence the

performance of the parking sensors:

the presence of ice, snow, mud or

think paint on the sensor surface may

cause reduced sensitivity of the sensor

itself and therefore reduce the system

performance;

mechanical interference (e.g.

washing the car, rain, strong wind, hail)

may cause the sensor to detect a non-

existent obstacle ("echo interference");

the presence of ultrasonic systems

(e.g. pneumatic brake systems of

trucks or pneumatic drills) near the car

could alter the signals sent by the

sensor;

the variation in sensor position,

caused by variation in ride (due

to suspension component wear),

changing tyres, overloaded car, or

tuning that lowers the car, for example,

may affect parking sensor system

performance.

Parking and other dangerous

manoeuvres are, however, always the

driver’s responsibility. While carrying out

these manoeuvres, always make sure that

no people (especially children) or animals

are in the area concerned. The parking

sensors are an aid for the driver, but the

driver must never allow their attention

to lapse during potentially dangerous

manoeuvres, even those executed at low

speeds.

For correct operation of the system,

sensors must always be clean from mud,

dirt, snow or ice. Be careful not to scratch

or damage the sensors while cleaning

them. Avoid using dry, rough or hard

cloths. The sensors should be washed

using clean water with the addition of car

shampoo if necessary. When using special

washing equipment such as high pressure

jets or steam cleaning, clean the sensors

very quickly keeping the jet more than 10

cm away. Also, do not apply stickers to

the sensors.

SAVING FUEL

Here are some suggestions which

may help you save fuel and lower the

amount of harmful emissions released

into the atmosphere.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Car maintenance

Have checks and adjustments carried

out in accordance with the “Service

Schedule”.

Tyres

Check the tyre pressures at least once

every four weeks: if the pressure is too

low, consumption levels increase as

resistance to rolling is higher.

Unnecessary loads

Do not travel with an overloaded

boot. The weight of the car and

its arrangement greatly affect fuel

consumption and stability.

Roof rack/ski rack

Remove the roof rack or the ski rack

from the roof if it is not used. These

accessories lower aerodynamic

penetration and adversely affect

consumption levels. When transporting

particularly large objects, use a trailer if

possible.

Electric devices

Use electrical devices only for the

amount of time needed. The heated

rear window, additional headlights,

windscreen/rear window wipers and

heater fan need a considerable amount

of energy, therefore increasing fuel

consumption (by up to 25% in the

urban cycle).

Climate control system

The use of the climate control system

leads to higher fuel consumption. If the

temperature outside permits, try to use

ventilation only.

Devices for aerodynamic control

The use of non-certified spoilers may

adversely affect air drag and fuel

consumption.

DRIVING STYLE

Start

Do not warm the engine with the

car at a standstill or at idle or high

speed: under these conditions the

engine warms up much more slowly,

increasing consumption and emissions.

It is therefore advisable to move off

immediately, slowly, avoiding high

speeds: in this way the engine will

warm up more quickly.

Unnecessary actions

Avoid accelerating when stopped at

traffic lights or before switching off the

engine. This action and also double

declutching is absolutely pointless

on modern cars and also increases

consumption and pollution.

Gear selection

As soon as the conditions of the traffic

and road permit, use a higher gear.

Using a low gear for faster acceleration

will increase fuel consumption.
In the same way improper use of a high

gear increases consumption, emissions

and engine wear.

Top speed

Fuel consumption increases

considerably with speed. Keep speed

as constant as possible, avoiding

unnecessary braking and acceleration,

which have a significant cost in

terms of both fuel consumption and

emissions.

Acceleration

Accelerating violently will greatly

affect consumption and emissions:

acceleration should be gradual.

CONDITIONS OF USE

Cold starting

Short journeys and frequent cold

starts do not allow the engine to reach

optimum operating temperature.
Consequently, both consumption (from

+15 to +30% on the urban cycle) and

emissions will increase.

Traffic and road conditions

Rather high consumption levels are

linked to situations with heavy traffic,

for instance when travelling in queues

with frequent use of the lower gears or

in cities with many traffic lights.
Winding mountain roads and rough

road surfaces also adversely affect

consumption.

Stops in traffic

During prolonged hold-ups (e.g. level

crossings) the engine should be

switched off.

is activated, whenever reverse gear is

engaged, the image of the area behind

the car appears on the

Uconnect™

system display.
When reverse is disengaged, the

image is still displayed for approx. 10

seconds, then it disappears and the

previously active screen is displayed

again.
NOTE The displayed image may look a

bit distorted.

The "red area A" contains a horizontal

line (D), which indicates the obstacle

the car is approaching. Therefore, take

special care when reversing.

Messages on display

If the tailgate is raised, the camera will

not detect any obstacle behind the

car. The display will show a dedicated

message.
In this case, lower the tailgate using the

dedicated handle, pressing the lock

until it clicks (see the "boot" chapter).

WARNINGS

WARNING In some circumstances,

such as with ice, snow or mud on the

surface of the camera, the camera

sensitivity may be reduced.

WARNING If the tailgate is to be re-

painted following to repairs, make sure

the paint does not get in contact with

the camera.

WARNING When parking, take the

utmost care over obstacles that may

be above or under the operating range

of the camera.

Parking and other potentially

dangerous manoeuvres are, however,

always the driver’s responsibility. While

carrying out these manoeuvres, always

make sure that no people (especially

children) or animals are in the area

concerned. The camera is an aid for the

driver, but the driver must never allow

his/her attention to lapse during potentially

dangerous manoeuvres, even those

executed at low speeds. Always keep a

slow speed, so as to promptly brake in the

case of obstacles.

It is vital, for correct operation, that the

camera is always kept clean and free from

any mud, dirt, snow or ice. Be careful not

to scratch or damage the camera while

cleaning it. Avoid using dry, rough or hard

cloths. The camera must be washed using

clean water, with the addition of vehicle

shampoo if necessary. In washing stations

which use steam or high-pressure jets,

clean the camera quickly, keeping the

nozzle more than 10 cm away from the

sensors. Also, do not apply stickers to the

TOWING TRAILERS

WARNINGS

For towing caravans or trailers the

car must be fitted with an approved

tow hook and an adequate electrical

system.
Installation must be carried out by a

specialist.
Install any specific and/or additional

rear-view mirrors as specified by the

Highway Code. Remember that, when

towing a trailer, steep hills are harder to

climb, braking distances increase and

overtaking takes longer depending on

the overall weight of the trailer. Engage

a low gear when driving downhill, rather

than constantly using the brake.
The weight the trailer exerts on the car

tow hook reduces the loading capacity

of the car by the same amount. To

make sure that the maximum towable

weight is not exceeded (given in the

registration document) account should

be taken of the fully laden trailer,

including accessories and luggage.
Do not exceed the speed limits specific

to each country you are driving in, in

the case of vehicles towing trailers.

In any case, the top speed must not

exceed 100 km/h.
Any electric brake (or electric winch,

etc.) should be supplied directly by the

battery through a cable with a section
of at least 2.5 mm2.
In addition to the electrical branches,

the car electrical system can only be

connected to the supply cable for an

electric brake and to the cable for

an internal light for the trailer, not

exceeding 15W. For connections, use

the preset control unit with a battery

cable with section not less than 2.5

mm2.

WARNING The use of auxiliary loads

other than external lights (electric

brake, winch, etc.) must take place

with engine running.

INSTALLING A TOW

HOOK

To install a tow hook contact a Fiat

Dealership.

The ABS with which the car is

equipped will not control the braking

system of the trailer. Particular caution is

required on slippery roads.

Never modify the braking system

of the vehicle to control the trailer brake.

The trailer braking system must be fully

independent of the vehicle’s hydraulic

system.

REFUELLING THE

CAR

Before refuelling, check you are

using the correct type of fuel. During

refuelling procedure, switch off the

engine, engage parking brake, rotate

the ignition key to STOP and do not

smoke.

PETROL ENGINES

Only use unleaded petrol with an

octane number (R.O.N.) not lower than

95 (EN228 specification).

DIESEL ENGINES

Only use Diesel fuel for motor vehicles

(EN590 specification).
When using or parking the car for a

long time in the mountains or cold

areas, it is advisable to refuel using

locally available Diesel. In this case, it

is also advisable to keep the tank over

50% full.

REFUELING PROCEDURE

Diesel and petrol versions

Proceed as follows:

open the flap (A) fig. 144 pulling

outwards, insert the nozzle in the filler

and refuel;

once refuelling is complete, before

removing the fuel nozzle, wait at least

10 seconds to allow the fuel to flow into

the tank;

then remove the nozzle from the filler

and close flap (A).
The refuelling procedure described

above is illustrated on the label

(B) fig. 144 located inside the fuel

flap. The label also indicates the

fuel type (UNLEADED FUEL=petrol,

DIESEL=diesel fuel).
Flap (A) is provided with a dust cover

gaiter (C) fig. 144 which prevents

deposits of impurities and dust at the

end of the filler when the flap is closed.

Emergency refuelling

If there is no fuel in the car or the

supply circuit is completely empty,

proceed as follows to reintroduce fuel

to the tank:

open the boot and get the adapter,

located in the toolbox or, depending on

the versions, in the Fix&Go Automatic

container;

open the fuel flap by pulling

outwards, insert the adapted in the

filler, as shown in fig. 145 and refuel;

after refuelling, remove the adapter

and close the flap;

reintroduce the adapter in the box

and put this back in the boot.

Topping for AdBlue® (UREA) Diesel

Emissions Additive

(for versions/markets, where provided)

Preliminary Conditions

AdBlue® freezes at temperatures lower

than -11

°

C. If the vehicle stands for a

long time at this temperature refilling

could be difficult. For this reason, it is

advised to park the vehicle in a garage

and/or heated environment and wait

for the UREA to return to liquid state

before topping up.
Proceed as follows:

park the car on level ground;

stop the engine by turning the

ignition device to MAR;

open the fuel flap (A) fig. 144 and

then unscrew and remove the cap (D)

(blue colour) fig. 144 from the AdBlue®

filler.

Refilling with nozzles

The system was designed in

compliance with ISO 22241-5 (nozzle

capacity: 10 l/min.). Refilling at stations

with higher flow rates is possible, but

the nozzle could shut off and the

amount introduced into the tank may

vary.
Proceed as follows:

insert the AdBlue® nozzle in the filler,

start refilling and stop refilling at the first

shut-off (the shut-off indicates that the

AdBlue® tank is full). Do not proceed

with the refilling, to prevent spillage of

AdBlue®;

extract the nozzle.

Refilling with containers

Proceed as follows:

check the expiration date;

read the advice for use on the label

before pouring the content of the bottle

into the AdBlue® tank;

if systems which cannot be screwed

in (e.g. tanks) are used for refilling,

after the indication appears on the

instrument panel display (see “warning

lights and messages" paragraph in

the “Knowing the instrument panel”

chapter), fill the AdBlue® tank with no

more than 6.5 litres;

if containers which can be screwed

to the filler are used, the reservoir is

full when the AdBlue® level in the

container stops pouring out. Do not

proceed further.

Operations after refilling

Proceed as follows:

fit the cap (D) fig. 144 back on the

AdBlue® filler by turning it clockwise

and screwing it completely;

set the ignition device to MAR (it is

not necessary to start the engine);

wait for the indication on the

instrument panel to switch off before

moving the car. The indication may stay

on for a few seconds to approximately

half a minute. If the engine is started

and the car is moved, the indication

will remain on for longer. This will not

compromise engine operation;

if the AdBlue® was topped up when

the tank was empty, see the “Refuelling

” paragraph in the “Technical

Specifications” chapter and wait for 2

minutes before starting the engine.

WARNING If AdBlue® is spilled out of

the filler neck, clean up well the area

and proceed to filling up again. If the

liquid crystallises, eliminate it with a

sponge and warm water.

DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM

LEVEL: this could cause damage

to the reservoir. UREA freezes

at under -11

°

C. Although the

system is designed to operate

below the freezing point of the

UREA, it is advisable not to fill the

tank beyond the maximum level

because if the UREA freezes the

system can be damaged. Comply

with the instructions provided in

this paragraph.

If the UREA is spilled on painted

surfaces or aluminium, immediately

clean the area with water and use

absorbent material to collect the

fluid that has been spilled on the

ground.

Do not try to start the engine if

UREA was accidentally added to

the Diesel fuel tank, this can result

in serious engine damage, contact

a Fiat Dealership.

Do not add additives or other

fluids to AdBlue®, doing so could

damage the system.

The use of non-conforming

or degraded AdBlue® may lead

to indications appearing on the

instrument panel display (see

"Warning lights and messages"

paragraph in the "Knowing the

instrument panel" chapter).

Never pour AdBlue® into

another container: it could be

contaminated.

In case of damage to the sewage

system of exhaust gas resulting

from the use of additives / tap

water, the introduction of diesel

fuel, or at least by not fulfilling the

damage the engine beyond repair and

If the engine has been run for even an

extremely limited amount of time, you must

not only drain the fuel tank, but the rest of

produce ammonia vapours. Ammonia

vapours have a pungent odour when the

cap of the

® tank is unscrewed,

therefore be careful not to inhale any

ammonia vapours in the tank outlet. In this

concentration, however, the ammonia

vapours are not harmful or dangerous to

health.

emission standards.

These two systems ensure compliance

with the diesel emissions requirements;

at the same time, they ensure fuel-

efficiency, handling, torque and power.

GENERAL

INSTRUCTIONS

Before replacing a bulb check the

contacts for oxidation.

Burnt bulbs must be replaced by

others of the same type and power.

After replacing a headlight bulb,

always check that alignment of the light

beam is correct.

When a light is not working, check

that the corresponding fuse is intact

before changing a bulb. For the

location of fuses, refer to the paragraph

"Replacing fuses" in this chapter.

WARNING When the weather is cold or

damp or after heavy rain or washing,

the surface of headlights or rear lights

may steam up and/or form drops of

condensation on the inside. This

is a natural phenomenon due to the

difference in temperature and humidity

between the inside and the outside

of the glass which does not indicate

a fault and does not compromise the

normal operation of lighting devices.

The mist disappears quickly when

the lights are turned on, starting from

the centre of the air vent, extending

progressively towards the edges.

BULB TYPES

All-glass bulb:

(type A) these are pressure fitted - pull to remove.

Bayonet bulb:

(type B) to remove them press the bulb and turn it

anticlockwise.

Cylindrical bulbs:

(type C) release them from their contacts to

remove.

Halogen bulbs:

(type D) release the fastening clip from its housing to

remove the bulb.

Halogen bulbs:

(type E) release the fastening clip from its housing to

remove the bulb.
