(2) Irrespective of the mileage, the timing drive belt must be changed every 4 years for heavy-duty use (cold climates, town use, long periods

of idling) or at least every 5 years.

(3) The maximum mileage is 120,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 6 years, regardless of distance travelled. If the vehicle is used in

heavy conditions (dusty areas, especially severe weather conditions, very low or very high temperatures for extended periods, urban driving,

long periods of idling), the maximum mileage is 60,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 4 years regardless of the mileage

(4) When refuelling the vehicle with a quality below the relevant European specification, this filter must be replaced every 35,000 km.

(1) Only ever use the fluids shown in the handbook for topping up, and only after checking that the system is intact.

(2) The actual frequency for changing the oil and replacing the engine oil filter depends on the vehicle usage conditions and is signalled by

the warning light or message (where provided) on the instrument panel (see "Warning lights and messages" chapter). In any case, it must

never exceed 24 months. Change engine oil and filter every 12 months if the vehicle is driven mainly in towns.

(3) Areas that are not dusty: recommended maximum distance 120,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 5 years, regardless of distance

travelled. Dusty areas and/or heavy conditions (cold climates, urban driving, long periods of idling): the recommended maximum distance is

60,000 km. The belt must be replaced every 4 years, regardless of distance travelled.

(4) When refuelling the vehicle with a quality below the relevant European specification, this filter must be replaced every 20,000 km.

(5) If the vehicle is used in dusty areas, this filter should be replaced every 20,000 km.

(6) The brake fluid replacement has to be done every two years, irrespective of the mileage.

(7) If the vehicle is used in dusty areas, this check should be carried out every 6 months.

(8) If the “remaining percentage of efficient engine oil” detected by the vehicle diagnostics is lower than or equal to 20%, it is advisable to

replace the engine oil and engine filter in order to avoid another service operation after a short time.

(9) Replace at least every 120,000 km, regardless of the actual operating time.

DEMANDING

VEHICLE USE

If the vehicle is mostly used in one of

the following conditions:

towing a trailer or caravan;

dusty roads;

short, repeated journeys (less

than 7-8 Km) at sub-zero outdoor

temperatures;

engine often idling or driving long

distances at low speeds or long

periods of inactivity;

the following checks must be carried

out more often than indicated in the

Scheduled Servicing Plan:

check front disc brake pad condition

and wear;

check cleanliness of bonnet

and luggage compartment locks,

cleanliness and lubrication of linkage;

visually inspect conditions of:

engine, gearbox, transmission,

pipes and hoses (exhaust/fuel

system/brakes) and rubber elements

(gaiters/sleeves/bushes, etc.);

check battery charge and battery

fluid level (electrolyte);

visually inspect conditions of the

accessory drive belts;

check and, if necessary, change

engine oil and replace oil filter;

top-up level of AdBlue® (UREA)

diesel emissions additive (for

versions/markets, where provided),

when the warning light or the message

appears on the instrument panel;

check and, if necessary, replace

pollen filter;

replacement of air cleaner cartridge

every 15,000 km.

ENGINE OIL

Check the oil level a few minutes after

stopping the engine (about 5 minutes)

with the vehicle parked on level ground.
The oil level must be between the MIN

and MAX marks on the dipstick (B)

The range between the MIN and MAX

marks corresponds to about 1 litre of

oil.
If the oil level is near or even under the

MIN mark, add oil using the filler (A)

fig. 213 to reach the MAX mark.
The oil level must never exceed the

MAX mark.

Engine oil consumption

The maximum engine oil consumption

is usually 400 grams every 1000 km.
The engine needs to run in when

the vehicle is new, and therefore the

engine oil consumption can only be

considered stabilised after the first

5,000 - 6,000 km.

WARNING The oil consumption

depends on driving style and the

conditions under which the vehicle is

used.

WARNING After adding or changing

the oil, let the engine turn over for a few

seconds and wait a few minutes after

turning it off before you check the level.

The coolant level must be checked

when the engine is cold and must

range between the MIN and MAX

marks on the reservoir. If the level

is too low, slowly pour through the
