WARNING: Follow all Warnings for airbag compo-
nent

STRAINTS - WARNING).

(1) Open deck lid.
(2) Remove four bolts to battery compartment

cover and remove cover.

(3) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative

cable.

(4) Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve

capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag
system or instrument panel component service.

(5) Remove the center bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INSTRUMENT

PANEL/INSTRUMENT

CENTER BEZEL - REMOVAL)

(6) Remove eight screws and slide the tunnel con-

sole back to get enough room to remove the bezel.
(Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/FRONT TUNNEL
CONSOLE - REMOVAL)

(7) Remove the steering column cover. (Refer to 23

- BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/STEERING COL-
UMN OPENING COVER - REMOVAL)

(8) Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent,

remove the left speaker cover.

(9) Remove the three screws along the bottom edge

of the bezel next to the steering column.

(10) Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, gen-

tly pry out on cluster bezel.

INSTALLATION

WARNING: Follow all Warnings for airbag compo-

(Refer

STRAINTS - WARNING).

(1) Place bezel in position over retaining slots and

firmly snap into place.

(2) Install the three screws along the bottom edge

of the bezel next to the steering column.

(3) Install the left speaker cover.
(4) Install the steering column cover. (Refer to 23 -

BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/STEERING COLUMN
OPENING COVER - INSTALLATION)

(5) Position the tunnel console back into place and

install the eight screws. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTE-
RIOR/CENTER CONSOLE - INSTALLATION)

(6) Install the center bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INSTRUMENT

CENTER BEZEL - INSTALLATION)

(7) Connect the battery negative cable.
(8) Place battery access cover into place and install

four bolts.

(9) Verify vehicle and system operation.

GLOVE BOX

REMOVAL

(1) Disconnect the check straps to the door.
(2) Remove

three

screws

retaining

glove

box

assembly and remove from panel.

INSTALLATION

(1) Place glove box into panel opening and install

the three screws retaining glove box assembly.

(2) Connect the check straps.
(3) Close glove box and verify operation. Adjust as

necessary.

GLOVE BOX LATCH STRIKER

(1) Open glove box.
(2) Remove two glove box latch striker retaining

screws and remove latch striker from panel.

(1) Place glove box latch striker into position and

install the two retaining screws.

(2) Close glove box and verify operation. Adjust as

necessary.

LOWER TRIM

REMOVAL

(1) Open deck lid.
(2) Remove four bolts to battery compartment

cover and remove cover.

(3) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative

cable.

(4) Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve

system or instrument panel component service.

(5) Remove the cluster bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INSTRUMENT

(6) Remove the glove box. (Refer to 23 - BODY/IN-

STRUMENT PANEL/GLOVE BOX - REMOVAL)

(7) Remove the glove box striker. (Refer to 23 -

BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/GLOVE BOX LATCH
STRIKER - REMOVAL)

(8) Remove the two screws to the left of the glove

box opening.

(9) Remove three screws to instrument panel right

lower trim and remove from panel.

(10) Disconnect the glove box light electrical con-

nector.

INSTALLATION

(1) Install five screws to instrument panel right

lower trim.

(2) Install three screws retaining glove box assem-

bly.

(3) Connect one electrical connector on cluster

bezel, place in position over retaining slots and
firmly snap into place.

(4) Connect one electrical connector to instrument

panel center bezel and install six screws to center
bezel.

(5) Connect one electrical connector to center con-

sole, place into position and install eight screws to
console.

(6) Install floor console bezel and parking brake

body.

(7) Install shifter shaft with knob and body.
(8) Install six allen screws to shifter bezel.
(9) Connect the battery negative cable.
(10) Place battery access cover into place and

install four bolts.

(11) Close deck lid.
(12) Verify vehicle and system operation.

(1) Open decklid.
(2) Remove four bolts to battery compartment

cover and remove cover.

(3) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative

cable.

(4) Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve

capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag
system or instrument panel component service.

(5) Remove the console bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INTERIOR/CENTER

CONSOLE

REMOVAL)

(6) Remove six Allen screws and one standard

screw at the bottom and separate the bezel from the
instrument panel.

(7) Disconnects the HVAC and start switch electri-

cal connectors.

INSTALLATION

(1) Connect the HVAC and starter switch electrical

connectors.

(2) Install the bezel and install the six Allen

screws and one standard screw at the bottom of the
bezel.

(3) Install the console bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INTERIOR/CENTER CONSOLE BEZEL - INSTAL-
LATION)

(4) Connect the battery negative cable.
(5) Place battery access cover into place and install

four bolts.

(6) Close deck lid.
(7) Verify vehicle and system operation.

STEERING COLUMN COVER

REMOVAL

WARNING: Follow all Warnings for airbag compo-
nent

service

(Refer

(1) Remove the two lower screws. (Fig. 1)
(2) Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, sepa-

rate the upper clips.

(3) Roll the left side of the cover down and sepa-

rate the clip on the right side at the tunnel.

(4) Disconnect the adjustable pedal switch electri-

cal connector and remove the cover.

INSTALLATION

(1) Connect the adjustable pedal switch electrical

connector.

(2) Position the cover into place and seat the right

side clip at the tunnel fully.

(3) Roll the left side of the cover up and seat the

upper clips fully.

(4) Install the two screws at the bottom of the

cover.

REMOVAL

(1) Open deck lid.
(2) Remove four bolts to battery compartment

cover and remove cover.

(3) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative

cable.

(4) Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve

capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag
system or instrument panel component service.

(5) Remove the cluster bezel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INSTRUMENT

PANEL/CLUSTER

REMOVAL)

(6) Using a trim stick or equivalent, gently pry up

on the left sill plate.

(7) Remove one screw and two push pins to left

cowl kick panel and remove panel from vehicle.

(8) Remove the steering column opening cover.

(Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT PANEL/STEER-
ING COLUMN OPENING COVER - REMOVAL)

CAUTION: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate
once the column is removed. If the wheel is rotated
it could damage the clock spring within the steering
column.

(9) Remove two screws to upper and lower steering

column shrouds.

(10) Disconnect five steering column electrical con-

nectors. (Fig. 2)

(11) Loosen steering column pinch bolt.
(12) Remove four steering column retaining nuts

and remove column from vehicle.

CAUTION: The brake lamp switch can only be
adjusted once. That is during initial installation of
the switch. If the switch is not adjusted properly or
has been removed for some service, a new switch
must be installed and adjusted.
