(6) Remove four shifter assy.-to-floor pan nuts and remove shifter from vehicle (Fig. 130). INSTALLATION (1) Install shifter assy. to floor pan (Fig. 130). Install and tighten four nuts to 12 N·m (105 in. lbs.) (2) Install selector cable to shifter lever and secure cable to shifter bracket. Install clip (Fig. 129). (3) Install crossover cable to shifter lever and secure cable to shifter bracket. Install clip (Fig. 128). NOTE: Only the crossover cable is adjustable. The (4) Adjust crossover cable. (Refer to 21 - TRANS- MISSION/TRANSAXLE/MANUAL/GEAR SHIFT CABLE - ADJUSTMENTS) (5) Install center console assembly (Fig. 127). Install rear power window switch (if equipped) and (6) Position gearshift boot (Fig. 126) over the gear- shift mechanism and engage tab on mount ring at (7) Position gearshift knob hole over the gearshift mechanism (Fig. 125) and align the shift pattern. (8) Strike knob with rubber mallet to engage knob to mechanism. (9) Verify that shift pattern is aligned properly. INPUT BEARING AND SLEEVE REMOVAL The input bearing is a one–piece bearing and sleeve unit (Fig. 131). The sleeve is the slide point for (1) Install tool #6342 over input bearing on the gear case side of the transaxle clutch housing. (2) Press the input bearing out of the housing (Fig. 132).
