1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL LH  

2. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH 

a. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the rear disc brake cylinder. 

b. Hang the disc brake cylinder with a piece of wire.  

3. REMOVE REAR DISC (See REMOVAL )  

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING 

a. Using SST, remove the return spring.

5. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH 

a. Using SST, remove the shoe hold down spring cup, compression spring and shoe hold down spring 

pin.

NOTE:



Do not disconnect the flexible hose from the disc brake 
cylinder.  



Do not twist or bend the flexible hose.

b. Disconnect the tension spring from the No. 1 parking brake shoe.  

c. Remove the No. 1 parking brake shoe and shoe adjuster screw set.

6. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH 

a. Using SST, remove the shoe hold down spring cup, compression spring and shoe hold down spring 

pin.

b. Remove the No. 2 parking brake shoe.

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER LH 

a. Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable from the parking brake shoe lever.  

b. Remove the parking brake shoe lever.

8. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the bolt and No. 3 parking brake cable.

9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK 

a. Remove the 2 nuts and anchor block.

1. CHECK BRAKE DISC INSIDE DIAMETER 

a. Using a drum gauge or equivalent, measure the inside diameter of the disc. 

Standard inside diameter:  

240 mm (9.45 in.)  

Maximum inside diameter:  

241 mm (9.49 in.)  

If the inside diameter of the disc is greater than the maximum, replace the disc.

2. CHECK PARKING BRAKE SHOE LINING THICKNESS 

a. Using a ruler, measure the thickness of the shoe lining. 

Standard thickness:  

3.8 mm (0.148 in.)  

Minimum thickness:  

1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)  

If the lining thickness is equal to or less than the minimum, or if severe or uneven wear is present, 
replace the shoe.
