NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR  

OK: Go To Next Step  

8. INSPECT COMBINATION METER 

a. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.  

b. Turn the ignition switch to ON and the Techstream on.  

c. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter (meter CPU) using the Techstream (See DATA 

LIST/ACTIVE TEST ).

d. Check that the BRAKE warning light turns on and off in the combination meter using Techstream. 

OK: The BRAKE warning light turns on and off in accordance with the Techstream 
operation.

OK: REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL ) 

9. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

a. Disconnect the A5 switch connector.  

b. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

NG: REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See DISASSEMBLY ) 

OK: Go To Next Step  

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - PARKING BRAKE 

SWITCH) 

a. Disconnect the A17 ECU connector.  

b. Disconnect the A5 switch connector.  

c. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE 

1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

a. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE 

TABLE ).

NOTE:

When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (BRAKE WARNING LIGHT) 

a. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.  

b. Turn the ignition switch to ON.  

c. Turn the Techstream on.  

d. Select the Active Test mode and operate the BRAKE warning light using the Techstream.

e. Check that the BRAKE warning light turns on and off in the combination meter using the 

Techstream. 

OK: The BRAKE warning light turns on and off in accordance with the Techstream 
operation.  

NG: GO TO METER/GAUGE SYSTEM (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH 
TROUBLESHOOTING ) 

OK: REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL ) 

VSC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON 

DESCRIPTION 

If the skid control ECU stores any DTCs which relate to the VSC system, the VSC OFF indicator light comes 
on in the combination meter. 

The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter via the CAN communication system. 

When the transfer is in 4WD, VSC control turns off and the VSC OFF indicator illuminates. The VSC OFF 
indicator light also comes ON when the VSC system is in the fail-safe mode.
