1. Set the spiral cable to the center position (see INSPECTION ).  

2. After setting the spiral cable to the center position, rotate the spiral cable 2.5 times clockwise, 

and measure the resistance as shown. Then rotate the spiral cable 5 times counterclockwise, 
measure the resistance according to the U4 (uecs) in the table below.

INSTALLATION 

1. INSTALL STEERING SENSOR 

a. Align the pins on the spiral cable with the installation holes on the steering sensor.  

b. Attach the 6 claws and install the spiral cable to the steering sensor.  

c. Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.  

d. Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.

2. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE 

a. Attach the 3 claws and install the spiral cable with steering sensor.

NOTE:

As the spiral cable may break, do not rotate the spiral cable 
more than the specified amount.

NOTE:

If it is not in the neutral position, the pin of the turn signal switch may 
be snapped.

NOTE:

When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin 
before installing the steering wheel.

b. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable with steering sensor. 

3. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER (See INSTALLATION )  

4. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (See INSTALLATION )  

5. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE 

a. Check that the ignition switch is OFF.  

b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected. 

NOTE:

When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the 
airbag wire harness.

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the 

negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt 
pretensioner activation.
