d. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws from the claw holes. 

HINT: 

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

e. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws from the claw holes and remove the sub tank. 

HINT: 

Tape the screwdriver tip before use. 

NOTE:

Do not damage the fuel sub tank.

3. REMOVE FUEL PUMP 

a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 5 claws from the claw holes and disconnect the fuel pump from the 

suction plate with filter. 

HINT: 

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the fuel pump harness.

c. Remove the O-ring and spacer from the fuel pump.

INSPECTION 

1. INSPECT FUEL PUMP 

a. Inspect the resistance of the fuel pump. 

1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. 

Standard resistance  

STANDARD RESISTANCE 

If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly. 

b. Inspect the operation of the fuel pump. 

1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) 

lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates. 

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition

1 -2

20°C (68°F)

0.2 to 3.0 ohms

NOTE:



These tests must be performed within 10 seconds to 
prevent the coil from burning out.  



Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as 
possible.  



Always turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not

REASSEMBLY 

1. INSTALL FUEL PUMP 

a. Install the fuel pump harness.

b. Apply a light coat of gasoline to a new O-ring. Then install the O-ring and spacer to the fuel pump.
