through the spark plug hole and repeat procedures "A" and "B" for cylinders with low 
compression  



If adding oil increases the compression, the piston rings and/or cylinder bore may be 
worn or damaged   



If pressure stays low, a valve may be stuck or seated improperly, or there may be 
leakage from the gasket

Connect the 6 injector connectors   

s

Install the 6 spark plugs  

Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)  

t

Install the 6 ignition coils  

Torque: 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf)  

u

Install the intake air surge tank (see INSTALLATION )

Install the air cleaner with element (see INSTALLATION )   

w

Install the No  2 air cleaner hose (see INSTALLATION )   

x

Install the V-bank cover with the 2 nuts  

Torque: 7.5 N*m (76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)

Install the front cowl top outer panel (see INSTALLATION )

Install the wiper motor and link (see INSTALLATION )

Add engine coolant (See REPLACEMENT )

Install the No  1 engine under cover with the 2 bolts and 2 screws  

Torque: for bolt  

29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)  

for screw

INSPECT CO/HC 

HINT: 

This check is to determine whether or not the idle CO/HC complies with regulations  

a

Start the engine   

b

Run the engine at 2500 rpm for approximately 180 seconds   

c

Insert the CO/HC meter testing probe at least 40 cm (1 31 ft) into the tailpipe during idling   

d

Immediately check the CO/HC concentration during idling and/or at 2500 rpm

HINT: 

When carrying out the 2 modes (idling and 2500 rpm) test, the measurement orders are prescribed 
by the applicable local regulations

If the CO/HC concentration does not comply with regulations, perform troubleshooting in the order 
given below

Check the A/F sensor operation (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ) and heated oxygen 
sensor operation (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )

See the table below for possible causes, and then inspect and correct the corresponding 
causes if necessary

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CHECK FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT 

a

Visually check the fan and generator V belt for excessive wear, frayed cords, etc  

If any defect has been found, replace the fan and generator V belt
