(12) Remove the three screws fastening the ICU to

the lower radiator support (Fig. 26).

(13) Remove the ICU from the vehicle (Fig. 26).

(14) To separate the ABM from the HCU, (Refer to

DISASSEMBLY

(1) If the mounting bracket needs to be removed

from the ICU, remove the single mounting bolt (Fig.
27), then slide the ICU’s mounting pins out of the
grommets in the bracket. Remove the mounting pins
from the ICU as necessary.

(2) Remove the four screws attaching the ABM to

the HCU (Fig. 28).

(3) Separate the ABM from the HCU (Fig. 29).

ASSEMBLY

(1) Clean any debris off the mating surfaces of the

HCU and ABM.

CAUTION: When installing new O-rings or solenoid
valve stem seals, do not use any type of lubricant.

(2) If the seals on the components are not new,

they must be replaced. Each of the solenoid valve
stem seals must be replaced (Fig. 30); do not reuse
solenoid valve stem seals. The pump/motor con-
nector O-ring should also be replaced if not new (Fig.
31).

(3) Align components and install the ABM on the

HCU (Fig. 29).

(4) Install the four screws attaching the ABM to

the HCU (Fig. 28). Tighten the mounting screws to 2
N·m (17 in. lbs.) torque.

(5) If the mounting bracket needs to be installed,

install the mounting pins in the ICU as necessary
and tighten to 11 N·m (97 in. lbs.) torque. Insert the
mounting pins into the grommets mounted in the
bracket, then install the single mounting bolt (Fig.
27). Tighten the mounting bolt to 11 N·m (97 in. lbs.)
torque.

(6) Install the ICU in the vehicle. (Refer to 5 -

INSTALLATION

(1) Install the ICU with bracket in position on

lower radiator support (Fig. 26).

(2) Install two upper mounting screws and one

lower mounting screw (Fig. 26). Tighten the three
ICU mounting screws to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.) torque.

CAUTION: Before installing the 47-way connector in
the ABM be sure that the seal is properly installed.

(3) Install the 47-way wiring connector into the

socket of the ABM (Fig. 25) and close the cover, lock-
ing the connector in place.

(4) Lower the vehicle.

(5) Install the rear chassis brake tubes at the ICU

(Fig. 23). Tighten the tube nuts to 17 N·m (145 in.
lbs.) torque with the aid of a crowsfoot wrench.

(6) Install the right front chassis brake tube at the

ICU (Fig. 22). Tighten the tube nut to 17 N·m (145
in. lbs.) torque with the aid of a crowsfoot wrench.

(7) Install the left front chassis brake tube at the

ICU (Fig. 21). Tighten the tube nut to 17 N·m (145
in. lbs.) torque with the aid of a crowsfoot wrench.

(8) Install the two brake tubes coming from the

primary and secondary master cylinder ports at the
ICU (Fig. 21). Tighten the tube nuts to 17 N·m (145
in. lbs.) torque with the aid of a crowsfoot wrench.

(9) Install the air cleaner housing. (Refer to 9 -

ENGINE/AIR

INTAKE

CLEANER

HOUSING - INSTALLATION)

(10) Remove the brake pedal holding tool.
(11) Install the remote ground cable onto the

ground stud located on left shock tower.

(12) Bleed the base brakes and the ABS brakes

hydraulic system. (Refer to 5 - BRAKES - ABS -
STANDARD PROCEDURE)

(13) Road test vehicle to ensure proper operation

of the base and ABS systems.
