Removing

Carry out following work:
– Lower moulded headliner (do not remove from vehicle) ⇒ 

General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.  70 ; Roof trims .

– Pull water drainage hoses off nozzles -arrows- of carrier unit

-1-.

– Detach connector -5- from drive for sliding/tilting roof.
Further dismantling requires the assistance of a second mechan‐

ic.
– Undo bolts -3- and lift carrier unit -1- out of vehicle with help

of second mechanic.

1. Sunroof with glass panel

Carry out following work:
– Fit carrier unit -1- into roof aperture with the help of a second

mechanic.

– During installation, use two cylindrical pins (inverted drill bits)

to align carrier unit -1- front right 12 mm -4- and rear left 10 mm

-2- in roof.

Carrier unit must not contact roof frame.
– Insert bolts -3- but do not tighten yet.
– Check for correct routing of lines and connectors of electrical

consumers in roof and restore if necessary.

– First, tighten the 2 bolts -3- at the front right and rear left at the

positioning pins.

– The tighten bolts -3- on left and right on carrier unit -1-.
– Finally, tighten bolts -3- at front of carrier unit -1-.
Specified torque for bolts -3-: 8 Nm.

– Install moulded headliner ⇒  General body repairs, interior;

Rep. gr.  70 ; Roof trim .

Cleaning water drain hoses

Note

For cleaning, a locally manufactured tool made from a speedom‐

eter inner cable, approx. 2300 mm long is recommended.

1.16.1

Front water drain hoses

The front water drain hoses run through the A-pillars and end at

the bulkhead cross member. Cleaning is done from the sunroof

panel aperture.

The rear water drainage hoses run through the C-pillars and end

in the rear wheel housings. Cleaning is done from the wheel

housing. The wheel housing liner must be removed
