Canceling and automatic re-enabling of the intrusion sensor
The alarm will still be set even when the intrusion sensor are canceled.
After the intrusion sensor are canceled, pressing the power switch or
unlocking the doors using the entry function or wireless remote control will
re-enable the intrusion sensor.
The intrusion sensor will automatically be re-enabled when the alarm sys-
tem is deactivated.
Intrusion sensor detection considerations
The sensor may trigger the alarm in the following situations:
A window is open.
In this case, the sensor may detect the
following:
• Wind or the movement of objects
such as leaves and insects inside the
vehicle
• Ultrasonic waves emitted from
devices such as the intrusion sensors
of other vehicles
• The movement of people outside the
vehicle
Unstable items, such as dangling acces-
sories or clothes hanging on the coat
hooks, are in the vehicle.
Places with extreme vibrations or noises, or situations in which the vehicle is
subject to repeated impacts or vibrations:
• When parked in a parking garage
• When the vehicle is transported by a ferry, trailer, train, etc.
• When ice adhering to the vehicle is removed
• When the vehicle is in an automatic or high-pressure car wash
• When in a hail or lightning storm

To ensure the intrusion sensor functions correctly
To ensure that the sensors operate
properly, do not touch or cover them.

Do not spray air fresheners or other
products directly into the sensor holes.
Installing accessories other than genuine Toyota parts or leaving objects
between the driver’s seat and front passenger’s seat may reduce the
detection performance.

Warning lights and indicators
The warning lights and indicators on the instrument cluster and
center panel inform the driver of the status of the vehicle’s vari-
ous systems.
For the purpose of explanation, the following illustration dis-
plays all warning lights and indicators illuminated.

WARNING
If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning light not
come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these sys-
tems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result
in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized
Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped profes-
sional immediately if this occurs.

Odometer and trip meter display
Odometer:
Displays the total distance that the vehicle has been driven
Trip meter:
Displays the distance the vehicle has been driven since the meter was last
reset. Trip meters “A” and “B” can be used to record and display different
distances independently.

Changing the display
Switches between odometer and
trip meter displays. When the trip
meter is displayed, pressing and
holding the TRIP button will reset
the trip meter.
• While the odometer is being dis-
played, or when the odometer/trip
meter are not being displayed,
the average fuel consumption
from the last reset will be dis-
played.
• While the trip meter is being dis-
played, the average fuel con-
sumption will be displayed in
accordance with the trip meter
distance from the last reset.
• The function can be reset by pressing the TRIP button for longer than 1
second when the average fuel consumption is displayed on the trip
meter.
Use the displayed average fuel consumption as a reference.
Instrument cluster light control
The brightness of the instrument cluster lights can be adjusted by 4
steps each time the button is pressed.
The reduced brightness can be canceled by pressing and holding the but-
ton. To turn on this function, press the button again.

When the tail light is on, the brightness of the instrument cluster lights
can be adjusted. (For vehicles with the automatic light control system,
the lights can be adjusted when the tail light is on and the surrounding
area is dark.)

Trip information display (vehicles without multi-information dis-
play)
Items displayed can be switched
by pressing the DISP button.

Current fuel consumption
Displays the instant fuel consumption.
Average fuel consumption
The average fuel consumption is displayed on both the odometer
and the trip meter.
The function can be reset by pressing the DISP button for longer
than 1 second when the average fuel consumption is displayed on
the odometer.
Use the displayed average fuel consumption as a reference.
Cruising range
Displays the estimated maximum distance that can be driven with
the quantity of fuel remaining.
• This distance is computed based on your average fuel consump-
tion.
As a result, the actual distance that can be driven may differ from
that displayed.
• When only a small amount of fuel is added to the tank, the dis-
play may not be updated.
When refueling, turn the power switch off. If the vehicle is refu-
eled without turning the power switch off, the display may not be
updated.

Hybrid System Indicator
Hybrid System Indicator displays the hybrid system power output and
regenerative charging and provides Eco-friendly driving assistance in
accordance with the driving conditions and the acceleration.

Changing Hybrid System Indicator settings (vehicles without
multi-information display)
The items displayed on Hybrid System Indicator can be changed by
operating the DISP button. Fully stop the vehicle and set the parking
brake, and then press the P position switch.

Shows that energy is being recovered
via the regenerative brake.

Shows that the vehicle is being driven in
an Eco-friendly manner.

Hybrid Eco area
Shows that gasoline engine power is
not being used very often.
The gasoline engine will automatically
stop and restart under various condi-
tions.

Power area
Shows that an Eco-friendly driving
range is being exceeded
(during full
power driving etc.)
By keeping the indicator within Eco area, more Eco-friendly driving can be
achieved.
Charge area indicates regeneration* status. Regenerated energy will be
used to charge the hybrid battery (traction battery).
*: When used in this manual, “regeneration” refers to the conversion of
energy created by the movement of the vehicle into electrical energy.
Eco Driving Indicator Light (vehicles without multi-information display)
When all of the following conditions are satisfied and the Eco-friendly driving,
the light will illuminate:
Driving with the shift position in D
Either normal mode or Eco drive mode is selected, and EV drive mode or
power mode are not in use (P. 214, 255)
The vehicle speed is approximately 130 km/h (80 mph) or below.
Eco Driving Indicator Light can be set to activated or deactivated. (P. 117)
