ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check

(b) With the front seat airbag assembly LH installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any

defects as mentioned below, replace the front seat with a new one:

Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the front seatback around the front seat airbag assembly

LH.

2. CHECK FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND

AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check

(b) With the front seat airbag assembly LH removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any

defects as mentioned below, replace the front seat airbag assembly LH with a new one:

Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the front seat airbag assembly LH.

Cracks or other damage to the wire harness or connector.

Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing

Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the

battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice

before proceeding with work 

 

.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent

airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected

3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 

5. REMOVE FRONT INNER NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 

6. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK ASSEMBLY 

7. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER 

8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT BACK HEATER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Seat Heater System) 

9. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK PAD 

10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH
