(a) Detach the 2 clamps from the front seatback main frame

sub-assembly.

(b) Remove the 2 nuts and front seat airbag assembly LH.

CAUTION:

The nuts must not be reused.
Make sure that the front seat back main frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new
one.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat frame and adjuster may injure your hands.

1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH

CAUTION:

The nuts must not be reused.
Make sure that the front seat back main frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new
one.

(a) Install the front seat airbag assembly LH with 2 new nuts.

Torque:

6.0 N·m {61 kgf·cm, 53in·lbf}

(b) Attach the 2 clamps to the front seatback main frame sub-assembly.

2. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK PAD 

3. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER 

4. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK ASSEMBLY 

5. INSTALL FRONT INNER NO. 1 SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 

6. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH (for Driver Side) 

7. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (for Front Passenger Side) 

8. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 

9. INSTALL RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH 

10. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected

Prepare a battery as the power source to deploy the airbag.

(b) Read the precaution

(c) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent

airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

(d) Remove the front seat 

 

.

HINT:

Keep the front seat in the cabin.

(e) Install SST.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRB...

(1) Disconnect the connector (yellow colored) from the front seat airbag assembly.

NOTICE:

When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(2) Connect SST connector to the front seat airbag assembly connector.

NOTICE:

(4) Move SST at least 10 m (32.8 ft.) away from the vehicle front

side window.

(5) Maintaining enough clearance for SST wire harness in the front side window, close all doors and windows

Take care not to damage SST wire harness.

(f) Deploy the airbag.

CAUTION:

When deploying the airbag, make sure that no one is near the vehicle.
The front seat airbag assembly becomes extremely hot when the airbag is deployed, so do not touch it for
at least 30 minutes after deployment.
Use gloves and safety glasses when handling a front seat airbag assembly with a deployed airbag.
Do not apply water to a front seat airbag assembly with a deployed airbag.
Always wash your hands with water after completing the operation.
