2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

a. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. 

3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER (See REMOVAL )  

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER (See REMOVAL )  

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD (w/o Steering Pad Switch) (See REMOVAL )  

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (w/ Steering Pad Switch) (See REMOVAL )  

7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )  

8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (See REMOVAL )  

9. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER (See REMOVAL )  

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the 

negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt 
pretensioner activation.

NOTE:



After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system 
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of 
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition 
switch OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the 
cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.  



Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is 
reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).

10. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

(See REMOVAL )  

11. REMOVE COLUMN SHIFT ASSEMBLY (See DISASSEMBLY )  

12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Regular Cab) (See REMOVAL )  

13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for Double Cab, CrewMax) (See REMOVAL )  

14. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH (See REMOVAL )  

15. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (for Regular Cab)  

16. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (for Double Cab, CrewMax)  

17. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH (See REMOVAL )  

18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 

a. Using a molding remover, detach the 7 claws and remove the side panel.

19. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

a. Remove the hood lock control lever.

b. Remove the 2 bolts.  

c. Detach the 4 clips and claw.  

d. for Automatic Air Conditioning System: Detach the 2 claws and remove the sensor.  

e. Remove the finish panel and then disconnect the connectors.

20. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY 

a. Disconnect the connector and clamp.  

b. Detach the 12 clips and remove the finish panel.

21. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the 4 screws.

b. Disconnect the connector and clamp, and remove the combination meter.  

22. REMOVE CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT COVER 

a. Remove the 2 clips and cover.

23. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY  

24. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 

a. Remove the 2 screws.
