3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

a. For the front wiper motor and link, refer to the following procedures (see REMOVAL ).  

4. REMOVE FRONT COWL TOP OUTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

a. Disconnect the 2 washer hoses.  

b. Remove the 7 bolts and outer panel.

5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (See REPLACEMENT )  

6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See REPLACEMENT )  

7. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the 2 cap nuts and throttle body cover.

b. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 throttle body cover brackets from the intake manifold.  

memory and setting. As a result, after turning the ignition switch 
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from 
the negative (-) battery terminal  



Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected 
(see INITIALIZATION ).

8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY (see REMOVAL )  

9. REMOVE VACUUM HOSE ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the bolt and disconnect the vacuum hose assembly.

10. REMOVE NO. 2 WATER BYPASS PIPE 

a. Disconnect the 2 water hoses from the No. 2 water by-pass pipe.

b. Remove the 2 bolts.  

c. Remove No. 2 water by-pass pipe together with the water hose.

11. DISCONNECT FUEL RETURN TUBE (See REMOVAL )  

12. DISCONNECT FUEL MAIN TUBE (See REMOVAL )  

13. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY 

a. Disconnect the throttle position sensor and control motor connector.  

b. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body.

c. Disconnect the No. 1 ventilation hose from the ventilation valve on the LH cylinder head.

d. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
