ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

a. Visually check the air hole and drain hole for coolant leakage. If leakage is found, replace the water

pump.

b. Turn the pulley and check that the water pump bearing moves smoothly and quietly. If necessary,

replace the water pump.

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (See REPLACEMENT )

2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (see REPLACEMENT )

3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH ELEMENT (See REMOVAL )

5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

6. DISCONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE

7. DISCONNECT OUTLET RADIATOR HOSE

8. REMOVE FAN SHROUD (see REMOVAL )

9. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE (See REMOVAL )

10. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS PIPE

a. Disconnect the No. 6 water by-pass hose.

b. Remove the 3 bolts.

c. Disconnect the water by-pass pipe with water hose.

11. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING

a. Disconnect the No. 2 and No. 3 air hoses.

b. Disconnect the air pump's connector.

c. Disconnect the air pump connector clamp's holder.

d. Using a clip remover, detach the wire harness clamp.
