REMOVAL 

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY 

a. Remove the intake manifold. (See REMOVAL ).  

3. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY . (See REMOVAL ).  

4. REMOVE NO. 4 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE  

5. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR 

a. Disconnect the 2 sensor connectors.  

b. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 sensors.

INSPECTION 

1. INSPECT KNOCK SENSOR 

a. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. 

Standard resistance  

STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION 

If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor. 

NOTE:



Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. 
(See INITIALIZATION ).  



After the ignition switch is turned OFF, the navigation system 
requires approximately 90 seconds to record various types of 
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch 
OFF, wait 90 seconds or more before disconnecting the cable from 
the negative (-) battery terminal.

INSTALLATION 

1. INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR 

a. Install the 2 sensors with the 2 nuts as shown in the illustration. 

Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)  

b. Connect the 2 sensor connectors.  

2. INSTALL NO. 4 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE  

3. INSTALL WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY . (See INSTALLATION ).  

4. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY 

a. Install the intake manifold. (See INSTALLATION ).  

5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

NOTE:

Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. (See 
INITIALIZATION ).
