Toyota Tundra. Manual - part 1004

Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.  



The procedures listed below are for the LH side.  

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL LH  

2. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (See COMPONENTS )  

3. REMOVE REAR DISC LH (See REMOVAL )  

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING LH (See COMPONENTS )  

5. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH (See COMPONENTS )  

6. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH (See COMPONENTS )  

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See DISASSEMBLY )  

8. REMOVE REAR AXLE LH HUB BOLT 

a. Using SST and a screwdriver or equivalent to hold the axle hub, remove the hub bolt. 

SST 09650-17011

9. INSTALL REAR AXLE LH HUB BOLT 

a. Temporarily install a washer and hub nut to a new hub bolt as shown in the illustration. 

b. Using a screwdriver or equivalent to hold the hub, turn the hub nut until the bottom surface of the 

hub bolt head touches the axle hub. 

NOTE:

Install hub nuts to prevent damage to the hub bolts.

c. Remove the washer and hub nut. 

10. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See INSPECTION )  

11. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH (See REASSEMBLY )  

12. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY LH (See REASSEMBLY )  

13. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING LH (See REASSEMBLY )  

14. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION (See REASSEMBLY )  

15. INSTALL REAR DISC LH (See INSTALLATION )  

16. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE (See REASSEMBLY )  

17. CONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (See REASSEMBLY )  

18. INSTALL REAR WHEEL LH 

Torque: for Aluminum Wheel  

131 N*m (1336 kgf*cm, 97 ft.*lbf)  

for Steel Wheel  

209 N*m (2131 kgf*cm, 154 ft.*lbf)  

19. CHECK PARKING BRAKE TRAVEL (See ADJUSTMENT )  

20. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE TRAVEL (See ADJUSTMENT )  

REAR AXLE SHAFT 

COMPONENTS 

NOTE:

Do not damage the threads of the hub bolts.
