SWITCHING THE SYSTEM OFF

F

Turn the air flow control to the left until all of the indicator lamps go

off.

This action switches off the air conditioning and the ventilation.
Temperature related comfort is no longer guaranteed but a slight flow of
air, due to the movement of the vehicle, can still be felt.
F

Turn the air flow dial to the right or press the "AUTO" button to

reactivate the system with the values set before it was switched off.

Avoid prolonged operation in interior air recirculation mode or
driving for long periods with the system off (risk of condensation
and deterioration of the air quality).

8. Air intake / Air recirculation

F  Press this button for recirculation of the interior air. The

indicator lamp in the button comes on.

Air recirculation enables the passenger compartment to be isolated from
exterior odours and smoke.
F  As soon as possible, press this button again to permit the intake of

outside air and prevent the formation of condensation. The indicator
lamp on the button switches off.

9. Mono-zone / dual-zone

F

Press this button to equalise the comfort value on the

passenger's side with that on the driver's side (mono
zone). The indicator lamp in the button comes on.

REAR SCREEN DEMIST -
DEFROST

SWITCHING ON

The rear screen demisting/defrosting can only operate when the engine
is running.
F  Press this button to demist/defrost the rear screen and (depending

on version) the door mirrors. The indicator lamp associated with
the button comes on.

SWITCHING OFF

The demisting/defrosting switches off automatically to prevent an
excessive consumption of current.
F  It is possible to stop the demisting/defrosting operation before it

is switched off automatically by pressing the button again. The
indicator lamp associated with the button switches off.

If the engine is switched off before the demisting/defrosting is
switched off automatically, demisting/defrosting will resume next
time the engine is switched on.

F  Switch off the demisting/defrosting of the rear screen and door

mirrors as soon as appropriate as lower current consumption
results in reduced fuel consumption.

The control button is located on the heating or air conditioning
system control panel.

RCZ_en_Chap04_visibilite_ed01-2015

ExTERIOR LIGHTING CONTROLS

Control stalk for the selection and control of the various front and rear
lamps providing the vehicle's lighting.

MAIN LIGHTING

The various front and rear lamps of the vehicle are designed to adapt
the driver's visibility progressively in relation to the climatic conditions:

sidelamps, to be seen,

dipped beam headlamps to see without dazzling other drivers,

main beam headlamps to see clearly when the road is clear.

AddITIONAL LIGHTING

Other lamps are fitted to fulfil the requirements of particular driving
conditions:

a rear foglamp to be seen from a distance,

directional headlamps for improved visibility when cornering,

daytime running lamps to be seen during the day.

SETTINGS

Various automatic lighting control modes are also available depending
on options:

daytime running lamps,

automatic illumination of headlamps,

directional lighting,

guide-me-home lighting.

In some weather conditions (e.g. low temperature or humidity),
the presence of misting on the internal surface of the glass of the
headlamps and rear lamps is normal; it disappears after the lamps
have been on for a few minutes.

76

RCZ_en_Chap04_visibilite_ed01-2015

Model without AUTO lighting

Model with AUTO lighting

MANUAL CONTROLS

The lighting is controlled directly by the driver by means of the ring A
and the stalk B.

A.   Main lighting mode selection ring: turn it to position the symbol

required facing the mark.

Lighting off / daytime running lamps.

Automatic illumination of headlamps.

B.   Stalk for switching headlamps: pull it to switch between dipped

headlamps / main beam headlamps.

In the lamps off and sidelamps modes, the driver can switch on the
main beam headlamps temporarily ("headlamp flash") by maintaining a
pull on the stalk.

confirms the switching on of the lighting selected.
The instrument panel has permanent back-lighting, both day and night.

exterior lighting.

4/

VISIBILITY

77

RCZ_en_Chap04_visibilite_ed01-2015

C.   Foglamp selection ring.

The foglamp operates with the dipped and main beam headlamps.

Rear foglamp.

F  Turn the ring C forwards and release to switch on the rear foglamp.
When the lighting is switched off automatically (with AUTO model)
or when the dipped beam headlamps are switched off manually, the
foglamp and the sidelamps will remain on.
F  Turn the ring C rearwards and release to switch off all the lamps.

In good or rainy weather, both day and night, use of the rear
foglamp is prohibited. In these situations, the power of its beam
may dazzle other drivers. It should only be used in fog or snow.

In these weather conditions, it is your responsibility to switch
on the foglamp and dipped beam headlamps manually as the
sunshine sensor may detect sufficient light.
Do not forget to switch off the rear foglamp when it is no longer
needed.

Switching off the lamps when the ignition is switched off

On switching off the ignition, all of the lamps turn off immediately,
except for dipped beam if guide-me-home lighting is activated.

Switching on the lamps after the ignition is switched off

To reactivate the lighting control, rotate ring A to the "0" position -
lamps off, then to the desired position.

On opening the driver's door a temporary audible signal warns the
driver that the lighting is on.

The lamps, with the exception of the sidelamps, switch off
automatically after a maximum duration of thirty minutes to
prevent discharging of the battery.

dAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS

Daytime lighting, compulsory in certain countries, which comes on
automatically when the engine is started providing better visibility of the
vehicle by other road users.

In countries in which it is imposed by regulations:

by default, this function is activated and cannot be deactivated,

the dipped beam headlamps come on, associated with the
sidelamps and the number plate lamps.

For other countries where the vehicle is sold, this function is assured
by specific lamps. The lighting control stalk should be in position "0"
or "AUTO".

This function can be activated or deactivated via the vehicle
configuration menu.
Deactivation of the daytime running lamps is effective after
operation of the lighting control stalk or after the next engine
start; activation is immediate.
