"Charging Stopped Due to Pulled Charging Connector"

Cause

Remedy

Charging connector is re-
moved while charging

After the hybrid battery
(traction battery) is fully
charged, the charging con-
nector is removed while the
hybrid battery (traction bat-
tery) is being recharged
again because electricity-
consuming functions

been used and the remaining
charge is now reduced.

If the charging connector is disconnected dur-
ing charging, charging will be suspended. To
continue charging, reconnect the charging
connector.

Charging connector is not se-
curely connected

Check the connection status of the charging
connector.

When connecting the charging connector,
make sure not to touch the latch release but-
ton. Insert the charging connector securely
until you hear a click. The charging connec-
tor may not be connected correctly if the
latch release button is pressed while insert-
ing.

After connecting the charging connector,
check that the latch release button is not
pressed and the charging indicator of the
charging port is turned on.

If charging cannot be carried out, even though
the proper procedures were followed, have the
vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

When the latch release button is pressed while
charging, charging stops. To continue charging,
reconnect the charging connector.

"Charging Complete Limited Charge Due to Battery Temp"

Cause

Remedy

Charging was stopped to protect the
hybrid battery (traction battery) as it
continued to remain hot for a certain
period of time.

Allow the hybrid battery (traction bat-
tery) to cool down and perform charg-
ing again if the charging amount has
not reached the desired amount.

"Charging Stopped Check Charging Source"

Cause

Remedy

Problem in

Check the following items.

Plug is not disconnected

Plug is securely inserted

Power source indicator on the CCID (Charging Circuit Inter-
rupting Device) is illuminated

The circuit breaker has tripped

Extension cord is not used and outlet is not overloaded

Connected to a dedicated power line

Electrical leakage has occurred or not

If there is no problem with any of the above items, there may be
a problem with the outlet of the building. Contact an electrician
and request an inspection. (Contact the facility manager of the
charging station when there is a problem with charging station.)
If charging cannot be carried out, even though there is no prob-
lem with the power source path, there may be a malfunction in
the system. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
Furthermore, if the error warning indicator on the CCID
(Charging Circuit Interrupting Device) is flashing, there may
be an electrical leakage. Consult your Lexus dealer.

ply depending on specifications of a charger. Refer to the
instructions provided with the charger.

Equipment that is not compatible with the charging schedule
function of the vehicle

Check if it is possible to charge with the AC charging cable
equipped to the vehicle. If charging cannot be carried out,
even when using the genuine AC charging cable, consult
your Lexus dealer.

If the headlights and audio are turned on, turn them off.

If charging cannot be carried out, even after performing the

Operate the hybrid system for approximately 15 minutes or
more to charge the 12-volt battery.

Remedy

The traction battery
warming control
was operated

When the traction battery warming control operates, the
charging schedule is not used and charging is performed.
This is a control to protect the hybrid battery (traction
battery), and not a malfunction.

"Engine Started to Clean System EV Driving Unavailable"

Remedy

EV driving may be canceled in order to protect the hybrid system, etc.
In this case, perform driving with the gasoline engine until EV driving will be
returned to automatically.

"No New Fuel has been Added Recently Please refuel"

Cause

Remedy

Refueling has not been performed for a certain amount
of time, and the quality of the fuel in the fuel tank may
have decreased.

Refuel the vehicle im-
mediately.

"Shift System Malfunction Shifting Unavailable Drive to a Safe Place
and Stop"

Cause

Remedy

There is a malfunction in the shift
control system.

Have the vehicle checked by your Lexus
dealer immediately.

"Shift System Malfunction Driving Unavailable"

If a message that indicates the need for the shift lever operation is
displayed

Cause

Remedy

To prevent the shift lever from being operated incorrectly
or the vehicle from moving unexpectedly, a message that
requires shifting the shift position may be displayed on
the multi-information display.

front of the front camera.

Follow the following correction methods.

If the front camera is hot, such as after the
vehicle is parked in the sun, use the air con-
ditioning system to decrease the tempera-
ture around the front camera

If a sunshade was used when the vehicle
was parked, depending on its type, the
sunlight reflected from the surface of the
sunshade may cause the temperature of the
front camera to become excessively high

If the front camera is cold, such after the
vehicle is parked in an extremely cold envi-
ronment, use the air conditioning system to
increase the temperature around the front
camera

If the hybrid system will not start

When the hybrid system cannot be started even though the correct
starting procedure is being followed

Cause

Remedy

If the smart access system with push-
button start has been disabled by a
setting, the electronic key may not
operate normally.

Make sure that the smart access system
with push-button start has not been dis-
abled by a customization setting. If the
function has been disabled, enable it.

If the electronic key has been set to
battery saving mode, it may not op-
erate normally.

Check if electronic key has been set to
battery saving mode. If it is, cancel the
mode.

There may not be sufficient fuel in the
vehicle’s tank.

Refuel the vehicle.

There may be a malfunction in the
immobilizer system.

If the key is touching or is covered by
a metallic object, move the key away
from the object.

If the key is near to or touching a key to
the security system (key with a built-in
transponder chip) of another vehicle,
move the key away from the other key.

There may be a malfunction in the
steering lock system.

Contact your Lexus dealer.

The hybrid system may be malfunc-
tioning due to an electrical problem
such as electronic key battery deple-
tion or a blown fuse.

However, depending on the type of mal-
function, a temporary measure is available
to start the hybrid system.

There may be a malfunction in the
shift control system.

Contact your Lexus dealer.

There is a possibility that the temper-
ature of the hybrid battery (traction
battery) is extremely low (approxi-
mately below -22°F [-30°C]).

Try to start the hybrid system again after
the temperature of the hybrid battery in-
creases due to the outside temperature
increase etc.

It may not be possible to shift the shift position from P.

Starting the hybrid system in an emergency

Do not use this starting procedure except in cases of emergency.

Pull the parking brake switch to check that the parking brake is set.

Parking brake indicator will come on.

Check that the shift position is in P.

Change the power switch to ACC.

Press and hold the power switch for about 15 seconds while depressing the
brake pedal firmly.

Even if the hybrid system can be started using the above steps, the system may be
malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle checked by your Lexus dealer immediately.

Starting the hybrid system when the electronic key is not operating
normally

Ensure that the shift position is in P and depress the brake pedal.

Touch the Lexus emblem side of the electronic key to the power switch.

When the electronic key is detected, a buzzer will sound and the power switch mode
will change to ON.
If the smart access system with push-button start has been disabled by a customization
setting, the power switch mode will change to ACC.

Firmly depress the brake pedal and check that a message is shown on the
multi-information display.

4

Press the power switch.

In the event that the hybrid system still cannot be started, contact your Lexus dealer.

9-3. If the hybrid system will not start

Stopping the hybrid system

Shift the shift position to P, set the parking brake and press the power switch as you
normally do when stopping the hybrid system.

Electronic key battery

As the above procedure is a temporary measure, it is recommended that the elec-
tronic key battery be replaced immediately when the battery is depleted.

Changing power switch modes

Release the brake pedal and press the power switch in step

 above. The hybrid

system will not start and the mode will be changed each time the switch is pressed.

When the interior lights or headlights are dim and the hybrid system
cannot be started

Cause

Remedy

The 12-volt battery may be dis-
charged.

Restarting the hybrid system using the jump-
er (or booster) cables.

The 12-volt battery terminals may
be loose or corroded.

Check if a 12-volt battery terminal is loose or
corroded.

If the vehicle 12-volt battery is discharged

WARNING

When replacing the 12-volt battery

When the vent plug and indicator are close to the hold down clamp, the battery fluid
(sulfuric acid) may leak.

For information regarding 12-volt battery replacement, contact your Lexus dealer.

If the 12-volt battery discharges, it may not be possible to shift the shift position to
other positions.
In this case, the vehicle cannnot be towed without lifting both front wheels because
the front wheels will be locked.
