461 6-3. Do-it-yourself maintenance 6 Maintenance and care If you cannot find a leak, have your Lexus dealer, test the cap and check for leaks in the cooling system. Check the engine radiator, condenser ■ Keep the engine compartment ■ Checking fluid level The brake fluid level should be ■ Adding fluid Make sure to check the fluid type and Fluid type FMVSS No.116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703 Items Clean funnel ■ Refilling brake fluid 1 Turn the engine switch off. 2 Depress the brake pedal more than 3 Remove the reservoir cap by hand. WARNING ■ When the engine is hot Do not remove the engine coolant reser- voir cap or intercooler coolant reservoir cap. The cooling system may be under pres- sure and may spray hot coolant if the cap is removed, causing serious injuries, such as burns. NOTICE ■ When adding coolant Coolant is neither plain water nor straight antifreeze. The correct mixture of water and antifreeze must be used to provide proper lubrication, corrosion protection and cooling. Be sure to read the antifreeze or coolant label. ■ If you spill coolant Be sure to wash it off with water to pre- vent it from damaging parts or paint.
