No. 235 Flashing of charging indicator of generator   

Malfunction Cause 

Solution 

Malfunction of generator 
belt  

Check generator belt for tension and wearing condition and if there is 10 mm 
of flexibility at middle of belt under 50 N pressure; if the belt is over-loosing or 
over worn-out, the generator belt should be adjusted or replaced;   

Malfunction of generator 
fuse  

Check if the poor contact of fuse for battery positive pole results in insufficient 
charging of battery, thus the fuse should be tightened or replaced;   

Malfunction of generator 
regulator  

Check if generator regulator is able to adjust generated voltage; if it’s 
abnormal, regulator or generator assembly should be replaced.   

1. Check forward rectifying: Connect one probe of Ohm meter to positive pole 
of rectifying diode, and the other probe to every end of rectifiers; changeover 
the polarity of probes and repeat above procedure; the Ohm meter will show 
conducting for one and cutoff for the other; if the conductivity is different from 
above description, the rectifier or generator assembly should be replaced;

2. Check backward rectifying: Connect one probe of Ohm meter to negative 
pole of rectifying diode, and the other probe to every end of rectifiers; 
changeover the polarity of probes and repeat above procedure; the Ohm 
meter will show conducting for one and cutoff for the other; if the conductivity 
is different from above description, the rectifier or generator assembly should 
be replaced;   

Malfunction of magnetic 
field diode of generator   

Check magnetic field diode of generator with Ohm grade of multi-meter for 
short-circuit or break; if the magnetic field diode is short-circuit or broken, the 
field voltage will be lower than voltage of charging indicator, and formed 
potential difference will result in lower-than-normal brightness of charging 
indicator;  

Malfunction of combined 
instrument  

Check indicating diode of combined instrument for mixed connection; if it’s 
abnormal, the combined instrument should be replaced;   

Flashing of

Malfunction of harness   

Check charging loop for good contact; if it’s abnormal, check or repair the

No. 236 Abnormal sound of generator   

Malfunction Cause 

Solution 

Abnormal sound of generator belt 

Check generator belt for tension and wearing condition and if there is 10 
mm of flexibility at middle of belt under 50 N pressure; if the belt is 
over-loosing or over worn-out and results in abnormal sound, the 
generator belt should be adjusted or replaced;   

Malfunction of generator belt pulley 

Check if the fastening bolts of generator belt pulley are loosing or the 
distortion of pulley results in abnormal frictional sound with other parts; 
thus the generator belt pulley or generator assembly should be replaced; 

Malfunction of generator bearing   

Check working condition of generator bearing; if it’s over-worn or 
lubricated badly, the generator bearing or generator assembly should be 
replaced;  

Malfunction of generator brush   

Check working and worn condition of internal brush for generator; if 
uneven worn-out of brush results in abnormal frictional sound with rotator 
of generator, the generator assembly should be replaced;   

Abnormal sound 
of generator   

Other faults   

Check if other objects enter to generator internally and result in abnormal 
bumping sound, thus the generator should be checked and repaired;

No. 237 Failure of battery storage   

Malfunction 

Cause 

Solution 

Check internal plates of battery for sulfurizing or short-circuit which will 
result in automatic discharging of battery, thus the battery should be 
replaced;  

Check if the battery is undercharged normally and results in subsequent 
failure of battery, thus the generator or loop should be checked;   

Check if the electrolyte level of battery is met to standard; the battery 
should be filled or replaced if the electrolyte level is too low;   

Internal malfunction of battery   

Check if the density of electrolyte for every battery cell is between 1.25 to 
1.29 under 20 degree; if not, the distilled water should be filled or the 
battery should be replaced;   

Check the battery loop for short-circuit or connecting to bond strap, if it's 
abnormal, the loop should be checked and repaired;   

Failure of 
battery storage

Check all switches for light for normal working; if there are abnormal, the 
switches for light should be replaced;
