Deactivate the SRS.

Ignition switch in position II.

Carry out the self-test with the simulators 
installed.

Does the system prove out correctly? 
Yes 

GO to BJ2

BJ2: CHECK THE DRIVER SIDE AIR CURTAIN MODULE SQUIB RESISTANCE

Connect the test and deployment lead to the 
driver side air curtain module.

Select DMM specific on the Ford approved 
diagnostic tool. 

2 

Connect the test and deployment lead to the 
Ford approved diagnostic tool. 

3 

Measure the resistance of the driver side air 
curtain module squib. 

4 

Is the resistance between 2 and 3 ohms? 
Yes 

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. 
REACTIVATE the system.  

No 

INSTALL a new driver side air curtain module.  
REFER to: 

Side Air Curtain Module - VIN Plate 

Body Style Code: S

 (501-20B Supplemental 

Restraint System, Removal and Installation). 
REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. 
REACTIVATE the system.  

BJ3: CHECK THE DRIVER SIDE AIR CURTAIN WIRING HARNESS FOR LOW 
RESISTANCE

Ignition switch in position 0.

Disconnect Driver Side Air Curtain Simulator. 

2 

Disconnect RCM C3R114. 

3 

Measure the resistance between the RCM 
C3R114 pin 17, circuit CR109A (BN/BU), harness 

side and the RCM C3R114 pin 18, circuit RR109A 
(BU/GN), harness side. 

4 

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 
Yes 

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. 
REACTIVATE the system.  

No 

REPAIR circuit circuit CR109A (BN/BU) and circuit 
RR109A (BU/GN). REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR 

  

  

the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.  

PINPOINT TEST BK : DTC B1129 11: PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN 
CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

BK1: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN CIRCUIT

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be 

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before 
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the 
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. 
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements. 

Deactivate the SRS.

Ignition switch in position II.

Carry out the self-test with the simulators 
installed.

Does the system prove out correctly? 
Yes 

GO to BK2

No 

GO to BK3

BK2: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN MODULE

WARNING: Do not proceed with the test unless using the Ford approved diagnostic 

tool. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury. 

Connect the test and deployment lead to the 
passenger side air curtain module.

Select DMM specific on the Ford approved 
diagnostic tool. 

2 

Connect the test and deployment lead to the Ford 
approved diagnostic tool. 

3 

Measure the resistance between each of the 
terminals and the passenger side air curtain 

module casing. 

4 

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
Yes 

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. 
REACTIVATE the system.  

No 

INSTALL a new passenger side air curtain module. 
 
REFER to:

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. 
REACTIVATE the system.  

BK3: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN WIRING HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO 
GROUND

Ignition switch in position 0.

Disconnect RCM C3R114.

Disconnect Passenger Side Air Curtain Module

Simulator. 

Measure the resistance between the: 

RCM C3R114 pin 9, circuit RR111A (YE/VT), 
harness side and ground.  
RCM C3R114 pin 10, circuit CR111A (BN/WH), 
harness side and ground.

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
Yes 

REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the DTCs. 
REACTIVATE the system.  

No 

REPAIR circuit CR111A (BN/WH) or circuit 
RR111A (YE/VT). REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the 
DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.  

PINPOINT TEST BL : DTC B1129 12: PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN 
CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY

BL1: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN WIRING HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO 
BATTERY OR IGNITION

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment, the RCM backup power supply must be 

depleted. Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before 
commencing any repair or adjustment to the SRS, or any component(s) adjacent to the 
SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. 
NOTE: Use a digital multimeter for all electrical measurements. 

Deactivate the SRS.

Disconnect Passenger Side Air Curtain Module 
Simulator. 

2 

Disconnect RCM C3R114. 

3 

Ignition switch in position II. 

4 

Measure the voltage between the: 

RCM C3R114 pin 9, circuit RR111A (YE/VT), 
harness side and ground.  
RCM C3R114 pin 10, circuit CR111A (BN/WH), 
harness side and ground. 

5 

Is any voltage present? 
Yes 

REPAIR circuit CR111A (BN/WH) or circuit 
RR111A (YE/VT). REPEAT the self-test, CLEAR the 
DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.  

No 

CONNECT the passenger side air curtain module 
simulator and the RCM. REPEAT the self-test, 
CLEAR the DTCs. REACTIVATE the system.  

PINPOINT TEST BM : DTC B1129 13: PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN 
CIRCUIT OPEN CIRCUIT

BM1: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN CIRCUIT RESISTANCE

Measure the resistance of the passenger side air

REACTIVATE the system.  

No 

INSTALL a new passenger side air curtain module.

REACTIVATE the system.  

BM3: CHECK THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR CURTAIN WIRING HARNESS FOR OPEN 
CIRCUIT OR HIGH RESISTANCE

Ignition switch in position 0.

Disconnect RCM C3R114. 

2 

Disconnect Passenger Side Air Curtain Module 
Simulator. 

3 

Measure the resistance between the: 

RCM C3R114 pin 9, circuit RR111A (YE/VT), 
harness side and the passenger side air curtain 
module C6R111 pin 2, circuit RR111A (YE/VT),
