Removal and Installation 

Removal 

1. Replacement parts 

Roof, front partial section 
Roof, rear partial section 

1. General Notes 

Necessary removal work: Panoramic roof, 
tailgate, doors, windshield, side windows, 
headliner, interior trim panels and rear 
lights. 
Move the wiring harness away from the 
working area. 

2. Roof (rear partial section) 

Mill out the spot welds. 

3. Roof (rear partial section) 

1. Grind out the spot welds starting from the 

front side of the vehicle.. 

2. Heat the bonded areas from the outside 

(approx. 170° C). 

 

Installation 

NOTE: Before resistance spot welding of body panels with a total panel thickness of 3 mm 
and greater, the welding equipment instructions contained in sub-section 501-25 must be 
followed. 

4. Roof (front partial section) 

Mill out the spot welds.

NOTE: In order to achieve a complete seal in 
the area of the tailgate mountings, a 
sufficient quantity of PU glass adhesive 
needs to be applied. 

Prepare the bonded areas (rear partial section) 

Apply PU glass adhesive to the roof 
crossmembers and the tailgate mountings. 

2. Fit the roof and weld it in place (rear partial 

section) 

Resistance spot welding. 

 

  

  

3. Fit the roof and weld it in place (front partial 

section) 

Resistance spot welding.
