Removal and Installation
1.  Remove the upper intake manifold. For additional

information, refer to Intake Manifold—Upper in

this section.

2.  Remove the engine oil level indicator tube bracket

bolt and position the tube aside.

7.  Remove the bolts, studs and the left valve cover.

Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.

8.  To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: Apply silicone gasket and sealant in the

locations shown.

3.  Remove the bolts and the ignition coil cover.
4.  Disconnect the four ignition coils.
5.  Remove the four ignition coils.

1.  Apply silicone gasket or LOCKTITE 5900 or

NOTE: The crankshaft pulley must be installed

within four minutes after applying the silicone.

Removal
1.  Remove the drive belt. For additional information,

refer to Section 303-05.

2.  Raise and support the vehicle. For additional

information, refer to Section 100-02.

3.  Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.

2.  Using the special tool, install the crankshaft

pulley.

4.  Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft

pulley.

3.  Install the bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt in four

stages:

Stage 1: Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
Stage 2: Loosen one full turn.
Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
Stage 4: Tighten an additional 85-95 degrees.

3.  Using the special tools, install the crankshaft front

oil seal into the engine front cover.

Removal
1.  Remove the crankshaft pulley. For additional

information, refer to Crankshaft Pulley in this

section.

2.  Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft front

oil seal.

4.  Install the crankshaft pulley. For additional

information, refer to Crankshaft Pulley in this

section.
