during Winter months is not recommended, because it may
cause window fogging.

Vacation/Storage

Before you store your vehicle, or keep it out of service (i.e.,
vacation) for two weeks or more, run the air conditioning
system at idle for about five minutes, in fresh air with the
blower setting on high. This will ensure adequate system
lubrication to minimize the possibility of compressor dam-
age when the system is started again.

Window Fogging

Vehicle windows tend to fog on the inside in mild, rainy,
and/or humid weather. To clear the windows, select
Defrost or Mix mode and increase the front blower speed.
Do not use the Recirculation mode without A/C for long
periods, as fogging may occur.

CAUTION!

Failure to follow these cautions can cause damage to
the heating elements:
• Use care when washing the inside of the rear win-

dow. Do not use abrasive window cleaners on the

interior surface of the window. Use a soft cloth and a
mild washing solution, wiping parallel to the heat-
ing elements. Labels can be peeled off after soaking
with warm water.

• Do not use scrapers, sharp instruments, or abrasive

window cleaners on the interior surface of the win-
dow.

• Keep all objects a safe distance from the window.

Outside Air Intake

Make sure the air intake, located directly in front of the
windshield, is free of obstructions, such as leaves. Leaves
collected in the air intake may reduce airflow, and if they
enter the plenum, they could plug the water drains. In
Winter months, make sure the air intake is clear of ice,
slush, and snow.

Cabin Air Filter

The climate control system filters out dust and pollen from
the air. Contact an authorized dealer to service your cabin
air filter, and to have it replaced when needed.

WINDOWS

Power Window Controls

The window controls on the driver’s door control all the
door windows.

There are single window controls on each passenger door
trim panel, which operate the passenger door windows.
The window controls will operate only when the ignition is
in the ACC or ON/RUN position.

NOTE:

For vehicles equipped with the Uconnect system,

the power window switches will remain active for up to
ten minutes after the ignition is placed in the OFF position.

Opening either front door will cancel this feature. The time
is programmable. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multi-
media” for further information.

WARNING!

Never leave children unattended in a vehicle, and do not
let children play with power windows. Do not leave the
key fob in or near the vehicle, or in a location accessible
to children, and do not leave the ignition of a vehicle
equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go in the ACC or ON/
RUN mode. Occupants, particularly unattended chil-
dren, can become entrapped by the windows while
operating the power window switches. Such entrapment
may result in serious injury or death.

Auto-Down Feature

The driver and, in some models, passenger power window
switches have an Auto-Down feature. Push the window
switch to the second detent, release, and the window will
go down automatically.

To open the window part way, push the window switch to
the first detent and release it when you want the window
to stop.

To stop the window from going all the way down during
the Auto-Down operation, pull up on the switch briefly.

Auto-Up Feature With Anti-Pinch Protection —
If Equipped

Pull window up switch to second detent for at least a half
of a second and the window will go up automatically.

To stop the window during an Auto-Up operation, push or
pull the window switch again.

To close the window part way, pull and hold the window
switch briefly and release it when you want the window to
stop.

NOTE:
• If the window runs into any obstacle during Auto-

Closure, it will reverse direction and then go back down.
Remove the obstacle and use the window switch again
to close the window.

• Any impact due to rough road conditions may trigger

the Auto-Reverse function unexpectedly during auto-
closure. If this happens, pull and hold the switch to close
the window manually.

WARNING!

There is no anti-pinch protection when the window is
almost closed. Be sure to clear all objects from the
window before closing.

Reset Auto-Up

Should the Auto-Up feature stop working, the window
may need to be reset. To reset Auto-Up:

1. Make sure the door is fully closed.

2. Pull the window switch up to close the window com-

pletely and continue to hold the switch up for an
additional two seconds after the window is closed.

3. Push the window switch down firmly to the second

detent to open the window completely and continue to
hold the switch down for an additional two seconds
after the window is fully open.

Window Lockout Switch

The window lockout switch on the driver’s door trim panel
allows you to disable the window controls on the rear
passenger doors and the rear sunscreen (if equipped). To
disable the window controls and the rear sunscreen, push
and release the window lockout button (setting it in the
down position). To enable the window controls and the
rear sunscreen, push and release the window lockout
button again (setting it in the up position).

Wind Buffeting

Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of
pressure on the ears or a helicopter-type sound in the ears.
Your vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the windows
down, or the sunroof (if equipped) in certain open or
partially open positions. This is a normal occurrence and
can be minimized. If the buffeting occurs with the rear
windows open, open the front and rear windows together
to minimize the buffeting. If the buffeting occurs with the
sunroof open, adjust the sunroof opening to minimize the
buffeting or open any window.

POWER SUNROOF — IF EQUIPPED

The power sunroof switch is located between the sun
visors on the overhead console.

WARNING!

• Never leave children unattended in a vehicle, or with

access to an unlocked vehicle. Never leave the key
fob in or near the vehicle, or in a location accessible
to children. Do not leave the ignition of a vehicle

equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go in the ACC or
ON/RUN mode. Occupants, particularly unattended
children, can become entrapped by the power sun-
roof while operating the power sunroof switch. Such
entrapment may result in serious injury or death.

• In a collision, there is a greater risk of being thrown

from a vehicle with an open sunroof. You could also
be seriously injured or killed. Always fasten your
seat belt properly and make sure all passengers are
also properly secured.

• Do not allow small children to operate the sunroof.

Never allow your fingers, other body parts, or any
object, to project through the sunroof opening. In-
jury may result.

Opening Sunroof

Express Open

Push the switch rearward and release it within one-half
second, the sunroof and sunshade will open automati-
cally and stop at full open position. During Express Open

operation, any other actuation of the sunroof switches will
stop the sunroof in a partially open position.

Manual Open

Push and hold the switch rearward, the sunroof and
sunshade will open and automatically stop at full open
position. Releasing the switch while the sunroof is in
motion will stop sunroof in a partially open position.

Vent Open

Push and release the Vent switch within one half second
and the sunroof will open to the vent position. During
Express Vent operation, any other actuation of the sunroof
switches will stop the sunroof operation.

Closing Sunroof

Express Close

Push the switch forward and release it within one-half
second and the sunroof will close automatically from any
position. During Express Close operation, any other actua-
tion of the sunroof switches will stop the sunroof in a
partially open position.

Manual Close

Push and hold the switch forward and the sunroof will
close from any position and stop at full closed position.
Releasing the switch while the sunroof is in motion will
stop sunroof in a partially open position.

Wind Buffeting

Wind buffeting can be described as the perception of
pressure on the ears or a helicopter-type sound in the ears.
Your vehicle may exhibit wind buffeting with the windows
down, or the sunroof (if equipped) in certain open or
partially open positions. This is a normal occurrence and
can be minimized. If the buffeting occurs with the rear
windows open, then open the front and rear windows
together to minimize the buffeting. If the buffeting occurs
with the sunroof open, adjust the sunroof opening to
minimize the buffeting or open any window.

Sunshade Operation

The sunshade can be opened manually. However, the
sunshade will open automatically as the sunroof opens.

NOTE:

The sunshade cannot be closed if the sunroof is

open.

Pinch Protect Feature

This feature will detect an obstruction in the closing of the
sunroof during the Express Close operation. If an obstruction
in the path of the sunroof is detected, the sunroof will
automatically retract. Remove the obstruction if this occurs.

NOTE:

If three consecutive sunroof close attempts result in

Pinch Protect reversals, Pinch Protect will disable and the
sunroof must be closed in Manual Mode.

Sunroof Maintenance

Use only a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the
glass panel.

Ignition Off Operation

NOTE:
• The power sunroof switch can remain active in Acces-

sory Delay for up to approximately 10 minutes after the
vehicle’s ignition is placed to the OFF position. Opening
either front door will cancel this feature.

• This feature is programmable using the Uconnect Sys-

tem. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in “Multimedia” for
further information.

Calibration Procedure

If the sunroof “Express Operation” feature is no longer
functioning, or the sunroof is auto-reversing while at-
tempting to “Express Close” but no obstruction is in the
roof opening, the sunroof can be re-calibrated per the
following steps:

1. Set the ignition to ACC or ON/RUN.

2. Close sunroof glass.

3. With sunroof in closed position, push and hold the close

switch.

4. After 10 seconds of holding switch, the sunroof glass

will cycle into the vent position and stop.

5. Release the close switch, then within 5 seconds push and

hold the close switch again. The sunroof will cycle open
and back to closed as the switch is held.

6. Once the sunroof has stopped in the full closed position,

release the close switch. The sunroof is now reset and
ready to use.

HOOD

To Open The Hood

Two latches must be released to open the hood.

1. Pull the hood release lever located under the left side of

the instrument panel.

2. Move to the front of the vehicle.

3. Reach under the center front edge of the hood and push

and hold the safety catch lever to the left.

4. Lift the hood upward to the open position.

To Close The Hood

WARNING!

Be sure the hood is fully latched before driving your
vehicle. If the hood is not fully latched, it could open
when the vehicle is in motion and block your vision.

Failure to follow this warning could result in serious
injury or death.

CAUTION!

To prevent possible damage, do not slam the hood to
close it. Lower hood to approximately 12 inches (30 cm)
and drop the hood to close. Make sure hood is fully
closed for both latches. Never drive vehicle unless
hood is fully closed, with both latches engaged.

TRUNK

Opening

The trunk can be opened from inside the vehicle using the
power trunk button located on the instrument panel to the
left of the steering wheel.

The trunk lid can be released from outside the vehicle by
pushing the trunk button on the key fob twice within five
seconds or by using the external release switch located on the
underside of the decklid overhang. The release feature will
function only when the vehicle is in the unlock condition.

With the ignition in the ON/RUN position, the trunk open
symbol will display in the instrument cluster indicating
that the trunk is open. The odometer display will reappear
once the trunk is closed.

With the ignition in the OFF position, the trunk open
symbol will display until the trunk is closed.

NOTE:

Refer to “Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry” in

”Doors” in “Getting To Know Your Vehicle” for further
information on trunk operation with the Passive Entry
feature.

Opening From Inside The Vehicle

Interior Power Trunk Release

The trunk can be opened from inside the
vehicle using the power trunk release
button located on the instrument panel
to the left of the steering wheel.

NOTE:

The transmission must be in

PARK before the button will operate.

Opening From Outside The Vehicle

To Unlock/Open The Trunk

The trunk may be unlocked/opened using either of the
following methods:
• Key Fob Trunk Release Button
• Passive Entry Button

Key Fob Trunk Release Button

Push the power trunk button on the key fob
twice within five seconds to release the trunk.

Passive Entry Button

Push the trunk passive entry button which is located on the
back of the trunk lid. With a valid Passive Entry key fob
within 5 ft (1.5 m) of the trunk, push the passive entry
button to open the trunk.

Closing

With one or more hands placed on the outside trunk
surface push the trunk lid down until you hear the trunk
lock latch into place.

NOTE:

Before closing the trunk lid make sure your key fob

isn’t inside the trunk area. The trunk will latch then
automatically unlock if the key fob is sensed not allowing
the key fob to be locked in the trunk area.

Trunk Safety

Trunk Emergency Release

As a security measure, a trunk internal emergency release
lever is built into the trunk latching mechanism. In the
event of an individual being locked inside the trunk, the
trunk can be opened by actuating the glow-in-the-dark
handle attached to the trunk latching mechanism.

WARNING!

Do not allow children to have access to the trunk, either
by climbing into the trunk from outside, or through the
inside of the vehicle. Always close the trunk lid when
your vehicle is unattended. Once in the trunk, young
children may not be able to escape, even if they entered
through the rear seat. If trapped in the trunk, children
can die from suffocation or heat stroke.

Cargo Area Features

Cargo Area — Vehicles Equipped With 60/40
Split-Folding Rear Seat

The 60/40 split-folding rear seat provides cargo-carrying
versatility. The seatbacks fold down easily by pulling nylon
tabs between the seatbacks and the bolsters. When the seats
are folded down, they provide a continuous, nearly-flat
extension of the load floor.

When the seatback is folded to the upright position, make
sure it is latched by strongly pulling on the top of the
seatback above the seat strap.

WARNING!

• Be certain that the seatback is securely locked into

position. If the seatback is not securely locked into
position, the seat will not provide the proper stabil-
ity for child seats and/or passengers. An improperly
latched seat could cause serious injury.

• The cargo area in the rear of the vehicle (with the rear

seatbacks in the locked-up or folded down position)
should not be used as a play area by children when

the vehicle is in motion. They could be seriously
injured in a collision. Children should be seated and
using the proper restraint system.

• To help protect against personal injury, passengers

should not be seated in the rear cargo area. The rear
cargo space is intended for load carrying purposes
only, not for passengers, who should sit in seats and
use seat belts.

The weight and position of cargo and passengers can
change the vehicle center of gravity and vehicle han-
dling. To avoid loss of control resulting in personal
injury, follow these guidelines for loading your vehicle:
• Always place cargo evenly on the cargo floor. Put

heavier objects as low and as far forward as possible.

• Place as much cargo as possible in front of the rear

axle. Too much weight or improperly placed weight
over or behind the rear axle can cause the rear of the
vehicle to sway.

• Do not pile luggage or cargo higher than the top of the

seatback. This could impair visibility or become a
dangerous projectile in a sudden stop or collision.

GARAGE DOOR OPENER — IF EQUIPPED

HomeLink replaces up to three hand-held transmitters that
operate devices such as garage door openers, motorized
gates, lighting or home security systems. The HomeLink
unit is powered by your vehicle’s battery.

The HomeLink buttons, located on either the overhead
console, headliner or sunvisor, designate the three different
HomeLink channels. The HomeLink indicator is located
above the center button.

NOTE:

HomeLink is disabled when the Vehicle Security

Alarm is active.

Before You Begin Programming HomeLink

Be sure that your vehicle is parked outside of the garage
before you begin programming.

For more efficient programming and accurate transmission
of the radio-frequency signal it is recommended that a new
battery be placed in the hand-held transmitter of the device
that is being programmed to the HomeLink system.

To erase the channels, place the ignition in the ON/RUN
position, and push and hold the two outside HomeLink
buttons (I and III) for up to 20 seconds or until the orange
indicator flashes.

NOTE:
• Erasing all channels should only be performed when

programming HomeLink for the first time. Do not erase
channels when programming additional buttons.

Programming A Rolling Code
For programming garage door openers that were manufac-
tured after 1995. These garage door openers can be identi-
fied by the “LEARN” or “TRAIN” button located where
the hanging antenna is attached to the garage door opener.

NOTE:

It is NOT the button that is normally used to open

and close the door. The name and color of the button may
vary by manufacturer.

1. Place the ignition in the ON/RUN position.

2. Place the hand-held transmitter 1 to 3 inches (3 to 8 cm)

away from the HomeLink button you wish to program
while keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.

3. Push and hold the HomeLink button you want to

program while you push and hold the hand-held trans-
mitter button.

4. Continue to hold both buttons and observe the indicator

light. The HomeLink indicator will flash slowly and
then rapidly after HomeLink has received the frequency
signal from the hand-held transmitter. Release both
buttons after the indicator light changes from slow to
rapid.

5. At the garage door opener motor (in the garage), locate

the “LEARN” or “TRAINING” button. This can usually
be found where the hanging antenna wire is attached to
the garage door opener/device motor. Firmly push and
release the “LEARN” or “TRAINING” button. On some
garage door openers/devices there may be a light that
blinks when the garage door opener/device is in the
LEARN/TRAIN mode.

You have 30 seconds in which to initiate the next

step after the LEARN button has been pushed.

6. Return to the vehicle and push the programmed

HomeLink button twice (holding the button for two
seconds each time). If the garage door opener/device
activates, programming is complete.

NOTE:

If the garage door opener/device does not activate,

push the button a third time (for two seconds) to complete
the training.

To program the remaining two HomeLink buttons, repeat
each step for each remaining button. DO NOT erase the
channels.

Reprogramming A Single HomeLink Button (Rolling Code)

To reprogram a channel that has been previously trained,
follow these steps:

1. Cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position.

2. Push and hold the desired HomeLink button until the

indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. Do not
release the button.

3. Without releasing the button proceed with “Program-

ming A Rolling Code” step 2 and follow all remaining
steps.

Programming A Non-Rolling Code

For programming Garage Door Openers manufactured
before 1995.

1. Cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position.

2. Place the hand-held transmitter 1 to 3 inches (3 to 8 cm)

away from the HomeLink button you wish to program
while keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.

3. Press and hold the HomeLink button you want to

program while you press and hold the hand-held trans-
mitter button.

4. Continue to hold both buttons and observe the indicator

5. Press and hold the programmed HomeLink button and

observe the indicator light.

• If the indicator light stays on constantly, programming

is complete and the garage door/device should acti-
vate when the HomeLink button is pressed.

• To program the two remaining HomeLink buttons,

repeat each step for each remaining button. DO NOT
erase the channels.

Reprogramming A Single HomeLink Button
(Non-Rolling Code)

To reprogram a channel that has been previously trained,
follow these steps:

1. Cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position.

2. Press and hold the desired HomeLink button until the

indicator light begins to flash after 20 seconds. Do not
release the button.

3. Without releasing the button, proceed with “Program-

ming A Non-Rolling Code” step 2 and follow all remain-
ing steps.

Canadian/Gate Operator Programming

For programming transmitters in Canada/United States
that require the transmitter signals to “time-out” after
several seconds of transmission.

Canadian radio frequency laws require transmitter signals
to time-out (or quit) after several seconds of transmission –
which may not be long enough for HomeLink to pick up
the signal during programming. Similar to this Canadian
law, some U.S. gate operators are designed to time-out in
the same manner.

It may be helpful to unplug the device during the cycling
process to prevent possible overheating of the garage door
or gate motor.

1. Cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN position.

2. Place the hand-held transmitter 1 to 3 inches (3 to 8 cm)

away from the HomeLink button you wish to program
while keeping the HomeLink indicator light in view.

3. Continue to press and hold the HomeLink button,

while you press and release (“cycle”) your hand-held
transmitter every two seconds until HomeLink has
