INSTALLATION

(1) Position the outside handle assembly into the

door.

(2) Connect the electrical connector.
(3) Drive the shipping screw in and release the

handle lever.

(4) Install the bolts and tighten to 5 N·m (45 in.

lbs.).

(5) Install the door trim panel. (Refer to 23 -

BODY/DOOR - FRONT/TRIM PANEL - INSTALLA-
TION)

(6) Snap the handle cover into place.
(7) Install the rubber access hole grommet.

HINGE

REMOVAL

(1) Remove the three screws and remove the door

hinge cover. (Fig. 11)

(2) Open door and support door on suitable lifting

device.

(3) Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark out-

line of door hinge on hinge pillar and door shut face.

(4) Remove bolts attaching door hinge to hinge pil-

lar (Fig. 12).

(5) Remove bolts attaching door hinge to door shut

face (Fig. 13).

(6) Remove door hinge from vehicle.

INSTALLATION

(1) Position door hinge to vehicle.
(2) Loosely install bolts attaching door hinge to

hinge pillar and door shut face.

(3) Align hinge to marks made on hinge pillar and

tighten bolts attaching hinge to hinge pillar.

(4) Align door hinge to marks made on door shut

face and tighten bolts attaching hinge to door shut
face.

(5) Verify door alignment and operation and adjust

if necessary. (Refer to 23 - BODY/DOOR - FRONT/
DOOR - ADJUSTMENTS)

LOCK CYLINDER

REMOVAL

(1) Open the door and remove the access panel.

(Fig. 13)

(2) Disconnect the cable. (Fig. 14)
(3) Disconnect the electrical connector.
(4) Remove the nut and remove the lock cylinder

assembly.

(5) Release the locking tabs and remove the lock

cylinder from the assembly. (Fig. 15)

INSTALLATION

(1) Insert the lock cylinder into the assembly and

seat the locking tabs fully.

(2) Install the remote lock cylinder assembly and

install the nut.

(3) Connect

the

electrical

connector

and

the

release cable.

(4) Install the access panel.

LATCH

REMOVAL

(1) Remove the door trim panel. (Refer to 23 -

BODY/DOOR - FRONT/TRIM PANEL - REMOVAL)

(2) Remove the watershield. (Fig. 13)
(3) Remove the three latch screws. (Fig. 16)
(4) Disconnect the electrical connector. (Fig. 17)
(5) Using a small flat bladed tool or equivalent,

separate the cable housing grommets and disconnect
the latch cables.

(6) Remove the latch.

HINGE (Continued)

INSTALLATION

(1) Position the latch assembly into the door open-

ing and connect the cables and electrical connector.

(2) Install the latch and install the three bolts.
(3) Tighten the screws to 12 N·m (9 ft. lbs.).

(4) Install the watershield.
(5) Install the trim panel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/

DOOR - FRONT/TRIM PANEL - INSTALLATION)

LATCH STRIKER

REMOVAL

(1) Open the door and using a grease pencil or

equivalent, mark the position of the striker to aid
installation.

(2) Remove screws attaching door latch striker to

lock pillar (Fig. 18).

(3) Remove striker and shims from lock pillar.

INSTALLATION

(1) Position striker and shims to lock pillar.
(2) Install screws attaching door latch striker to

lock pillar.

(3) Verify door alignment and operation and adjust

if necessary. (Refer to 23 - BODY/DOOR - FRONT/
DOOR - ADJUSTMENTS)

TRIM PANEL

REMOVAL

(1) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative

cable.

(2) Remove the speaker.
(3) Remove the three trim panel screws in the

speaker opening.

(4) Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent,

remove the trim plug at the interior release handle
and remove the screw. (Fig. 19)

(5) Remove the pull handle screw and remove the

pull handle cover (Fig. 20).

(6) Remove the two screws under the pull handle

cover. (Fig. 20)

(7) Remove the screw at the front of the trim

panel.

(8) Remove the two push pins at the rear of the

trim panel and the push pin at the front of the trim
panel (Fig. 20). To remove the push pin fasteners,
push the center pin inward to release push pin and
use a trim tool to remove push pin (Fig. 21).

(9) Disconnect the electrical connectors.
(10) Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, dis-

engage the two vertical spring clips attaching top
flange of the trim panel to door inner panel by prying
trim panel upward to release clips (Fig. 22).

(11) Using a small flat bladed tool or equivalent,

separate the cable housing grommet and disconnect
the inside handle release cable (Fig. 23).

INSTALLATION

(1) Connect the inside handle assembly release

cable (Fig. 24).

(2) Connect the electrical connectors.
(3) Install the trim panel by engaging the two ver-

tical spring clips on the top flange into the slots in
the door inner panel and push trim panel downward
to lock spring clips into position (Fig. 25).

(4) Install the screw at the front of the trim panel

(Fig. 26).
