REAR TILT MOTOR

1. Position motor (3) on seat adjuster (2).

2. Install the fasteners (1) holding the motor (3) to the

seat adjuster (2).

3. Connect the motor electrical connector.

4. Install the seat cushion (Refer to 23 - BODY/

SEATS/SEAT CUSHION

COVER

-

INSTALLA-

TION).

5. Clip the wire harness to cushion pan.

6. Install the seat assembly (Refer to 23 - BODY/

SEATS/SEAT - INSTALLATION).

7. Connect the battery negative cable.

8. Verify system and vehicle operation.

POWER SEAT RECLINER

REMOVAL

1. Remove the seat back (1) (Refer to 23 - BODY/

SEATS/SEAT

BACK

CUSHION/COVER

-

REMOVAL).

2. Disengage J-strap at base of seat cushion (4).

3. Roll seat cushion cover upward to access bolts

attaching recliner (3) to seat back frame (1).

4. Remove bolts attaching recliner to seat back frame

(1).

5. Separate recliner (3) from seat (4).

INSTALLATION

1. Position recliner (3) assembly on seat frame (4).

2. Install bolts attaching recliner (3) to seat back

frame (1) and tighten to 28 N·m (20 ft. lbs.).

3. Roll seat cover downward.

4. Engage J-strap at base of seat cushion (4).

5. Install the seat back (1) (Refer to 23 - BODY/

SEATS/SEAT

BACK

CUSHION/COVER

SWITCH-SEAT

DESCRIPTION

The power seat can be adjusted in six different ways using the power seat switch. The switch is located on the
lower outboard side of the seat cushion on the seat cushion side shield on all models.

The individual switches in the power seat switch assembly cannot be repaired. If one switch is damaged or faulty,
the entire power seat switch must be replaced.

OPERATION

When a power seat switch is actuated, a battery feed and a ground path are applied through the switch contacts to
the power seat adjuster or recliner adjuster motor. The selected adjuster motor operates to move the seat or recliner
through its drive unit in the selected direction until the switch is released, or until the travel limit of the adjuster is
reached. When the switch is moved in the opposite direction, the battery feed and ground path to the motor are
reversed through the switch contacts. This causes the adjuster motor to run in the opposite direction.

No power seat switch should be held applied in any direction after the adjuster has reached its travel limit. The
power seat adjuster motors each contain a self-resetting circuit breaker to protect them from overload. However,
consecutive or frequent resetting of the circuit breaker may cause damage.

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

POWER SEAT SWITCH

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the power seat switch from the power

seat (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/POWER SEATS/
SEAT SWITCH - REMOVAL).

3. Use an ohmmeter to test the continuity of the

power

seat

switch.

the faulty power seat switch. If switch tests OK

CAUTION: Be certain the two halves of the power
seat switch assembly are completely snapped
together. Failure to do so could result in a misdi-
agnosed power seat switch.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the seat cushion side panel from the seat and disconnect the electrical harness connector.

3. Remove the screws that secure the power seat switch and seperate switch from trim panel.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the power seat switch on the seat cushion side panel install the two screws.

2. Connect the power seat switch electrical connector.

3. Install the seat cushion side panel on the seat.

4. Connect the battery negative cable.

5. Verify system and vehicle operation.
