information network.

The reception quality of the radio 
station being listened to gradually 
deteriorates.

The  vehicle  is  too  distant  from  the  transmitter,  or  no 
transmitter is present in the geographical area you are 
passing through.

Activate the RDS function to allow the system to 
check whether a more powerful transmitter is to 
be found in the geographical area.

The environment (hills, high buildings, tunnels, under-
ground  car  parks,  etc.)  is  blocking  reception,  even  in 
RDS mode.

This phenomenon is normal and does not imply 
anything wrong with the radio.

The aerial is absent or has been damaged (for example 
after  going  through  a  car  wash  or  in  an  underground 
car park).

Have the aerial checked by a CITROËN dealer.

When the engine is not running, the 
radio stops after a few minutes.

When the engine is switched off, the working time for the 
radio depends on the battery charge. The interruption is 
normal.: the radio goes into economy mode, cutting off 
in order to save the vehicle’s battery.

You have to start the engine so as to increase 
the battery charge.

The message "the audio system 
is  overheating"  appears  on  the 
screen.

In  order  to  protect  the  audio  equipment  in  excessive 
ambient temperatures, the radio goes into an automatic 
thermic protection mode which results in a reduction in 
sound volume or stopping of the CD player.

Switch off the audio system for a few minutes in 
order to allow the system to cool down.

Between routine servicing visits, check the level of 
engine oil frequently as well as before going on a long 
journey.

TOPPING UP ENGINE OIL

Before fi lling, pull out the dipstick.
Check the dipstick after fi lling.
It  must  never  exceed  the  maxi-
mum.
Screw  the  cap  back  on  and  close 
the bonnet.

RADIATOR – COOLANT FLUID

Checking the level and topping up 

with fl uid must always be done with 

the engine cold.

Engine hot

Wait  15 minutes  or  for  the  tem-
perature  to  be  lower  than  100  °C 
and  then  carefully  unscrew  the 
cap so as to allow the pressure to 
drop, protecting yourself with, say, 
a cloth.

Topping up the coolant

The  level  of  coolant 1  should  be 
between the MIN. and MAX. mark-
ings on the header tank.
Top  up  the  level.  If  you  have  to 
put  in  more  than  1 litre,  have  the 
cooling  system  checked  by  a 
CITROËN dealer.

Make  sure  that  the  cap  is  back 
on properly.
Note:  If  you  need  to  top  up  the 

fl uid  frequently,  this  indicates  a 

malfunction which you should get 

checked  at  the  earliest  opportu-

nity.
Remark:  The  cooling  fan  may 
operate  for  around  10  minutes 
after the engine has stopped.

BATTERY LOCATION AND 
ACCESS

The  battery  is  located  in  the  boot 
under  the  left  hand  wing  trim.  To 
access  the  battery,  rotate  the  pin 

on the fl ap by a 1/4.

CHANGING THE BATTERY (Contact a CITROËN dealer).

1. Release the two pins on each side at the back of the boot, and remove 

the boot fl oor.

2. 

On each side trim, release the two fi xing pins A.

3. Undo the two screws B on each side and remove the sill embellisher.
4. On the side trim close to the battery, release the pin D.
5. Separate the side trim close to the battery, pulling hard to free the other 

fi xing points.

6. Unclip the boot lamp C.
7. Disconnect both battery terminals.
8. Release the battery from its support.
9. Remove the battery.

Before changing or repairing the battery, open all four windows.
If you have to unlock your vehicle with the key because of a problem with the battery, any opening/closing 
of a door with the window closed may seriously damage the glass to the point of breaking it.

STARTING THE ENGINE AFTER DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE BATTERY

1. Turn the ignition key.
2. 

Wait approximately 1 minute before operating the starter in order to allow the electronic systems to re-initialise.

After the battery has been disconnected for a lengthy period of time, it may be necessary to re-initialise the following 
functions:

The anti-pinch on the windows.
The anti-pinch on the sun roof.
The multifunction display parameters (date, time, language, units of distance and of temperature).
The Radio stations.
The NaviDrive. See NaviDrive instructions.

IMPORTANT

In the event of a battery failure, and if the boot is closed, it is then necessary to feed an electrical supply to your 
vehicle. See following page.

STARTING THE ENGINE WITH AN ASSISTING 
BATTERY

If the battery is discharged, it is possible to use either 
a separate emergency battery or a battery on another 
vehicle.
If  you  use  the  battery  on  another  vehicle,  stop  the 
engine  on  the  latter.  The  two  vehicles  must  not  come 
into direct contact with each other.
Check that the assisting battery has suffi cient voltage 

(12 V).
Connect the cables according to the order indicated in 

order

the diagram.

A  Pole "+" on the vehicle being assisted (under the 

red cover).

B  Assisting battery.
C  Pole "–" on the assisted vehicle (under the bonnet).
Check that the leads are well secured (risk of sparks).
Start the engine of the assisting vehicle. Let the engine 
run for around 1 minute at a slightly accelerated idle.
Operate the starter on the vehicle being assisted.
It  is  essential  to  follow  the  indicated  sequence 
correctly.

Never approach with a fl ame or create sparks in the vicinity of the battery (explosive gas).
The battery contains dilute sulphuric acid which is highly corrosive.
When handling batteries, always protect your face and especially your eyes.
In the event of any contact with the skin, rinse immediately with copious amounts of fresh water.

ADVICE

Do not touch the leads during the operation.
Do not lean over the batteries.
Disconnect  the  cables  in  reverse  order,  making  sure 
they do not touch together.

FUSEBOXES

There are two fuseboxes under the dashboard, one in 

the engine compartment and another in the boot under 
the left hand wing trim.

Dashboard fuses

To access the fuses under dashboard:

1- Open the storage cover as wide as possible with-

out forcing.

2- 

To be able to open the cover to the maximum, pull 

it on the right hand side.

3- Remove the protective trim located between the 

fuses and the storage cover to access the fuses.

REPLACING A FUSE

Before replacing a fuse, you should ascertain the cause 
of the fault and have it remedied. The numbers of the 

fuses are indicated on the fusebox.
Replace  the  fuse  that  has  blown  with  one  of  the 

same rating (same colour).
Use the special pliers A

 placed on the fl ap close to the 

fuseboxes. The fl ap also has spare fuses available.
