Section Nine Engine Cooling System

Traditional water-cooled forced-circulation water-cooling system is adopted for A15 car.
The power steering pump is also fixed onto the water pump and driven by the same
transimmsion shaft. In this system, the water pump pressurizes the cooling fluid and
forces it to circulate through the engine. The water pump is a centrifual pump and driven
by the driving belt.

One. Fixing/unfixing the heat radiator
1. Fixing the heat radiator
- Screw the two air deflectors onto the radiator with tapping screws using a torque of 6-
7N.m.
- Fix the radiator onto the front beam.
- Fix the tensioner onto the radiator and screw the bolts of the left and right tensioners
with a torque of 10 + 2N.m.
2. Fixing the expansion tank and expansion tank cover
- Fix the expansion tank and screw on two double-end bolts with a torque of 10 + 1Nm
- Fix the protective cover
- Screw fast the expansion tank cover
3. Fixing the water pipe
- Clamp the elastic snap hoop with a special tool and fix it onto corresponding water pipe.
- Clamp the elastic snap hoop with a special tool and fix the water pipe onto the
corresponding fitting; release the special tool and clamp the elastic snap loop where
appropriate on the water pipe.
Note:
1. The snap hoop shall be 5mm±2mm away from the water pipe outlet.
2. Do not clamp the elastic snap loop on the water pipe in an inclined manner.

Two. Fixing/unfixing the heat radiator fan
1. Unfixing
- Unfix the wire connected to the wire harness.
- Unscrew the bolts of the radiator
- Take off the radiator fan

2. Fixing

- Align the fixing holes in the fan with the fixing holes in the radiator and screw on the
bolts.
- Plug in the wire harness.

Three. Fixing/unfixing the water pump and power steering pump assembly
1) Detach the storage battery cathode.
2) Drain the cooling fluid of the cooling system.
3) Unfix the driving belt (see Fixing/Unfixing the Driving Belt)
4) Unfix the power steering pump and its attached hoses and put them aside.
5) Unfix the power steering pump bracket.
6) Release the water pump set bolts and then unfix the water pump and its O-rings.

Four. Adding the cooling fluid
- Add the mixed cooling fluid into the expansion tank (proportioning ratio is 50% glycol
+ 50% soft water)
- The cooling fluid level shall be between the “max” and “min” marks of the expansion
tank.
- The working temperature ofthe cooling fluid shall not be lower than -35℃, failing
which the content of glycol shall be increased as appropriate. But the glycol content shall
not exceed 60%.

Five. Draining the cooling system
1. Fill the system with water and run the engine until the radiator’s upper hose becomes
hot.
2. Drain the water in the system. For that purpose, unfix the upper water pipe’s lower end
of the radiator and refix the pipe and plug after the water is drained.
