Rear Stereo Amplifier and Woofer Replacement

1. Open the hatch.

2. Remove the cargo area floor (see page 20-53).

3. Remove the anchor bolt (A) from the rear stereo

amplifier and woofer box (B).

4. Disconnect the 6P connector (C) from the rear

stereo amplifier.

5. Remove the six mounting screws from the cover,

then remove the cover.

6. Disconnect the connectors (A) from the woofer (B).

7. Remove the rear amplifier.

8. Install the rear stereo amplifier and woofer in the

reverse order of removal.

1. Wrap aluminum foil (A) around the tip of the tester

probe (B) as shown.

2. Touch one tester probe to the window antenna

terminal (A), and move the other tester probe along
the antenna wires to check that continuity exists.

NOTE: To make an effective repair, the broken section
must be no longer than 1 inch.

1. Lightly rub the area around the broken section (A)

with fine steel wool, then clean it with isopropyl
alcohol.

2. Carefully mask above and below the broken portion

of the window antenna wire (B) with cellophane
tape (C).

3. Thoroughly mix the silver conductive paint

(commercially available defogger grid repair
material). Using a small brush, apply a heavy coat
of the silver conductive paint (A) extending about
1/8’’ on both sides of the break. Allow 30 minutes to
dry.

4. Check for continuity in the repaired wire.

5. Apply a second coat of paint in the same way. Let it

dry 3 hours before removing the tape.
