3. Is the measured voltage within specifications? 

YES  

Substitute with a known-good IMS and check for proper operation. 

If the problem is corrected, replace IMS and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE 
REPAIR
" procedure. 

NO  

Go to step 2. 

2. Check seat motor/sensor 

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).  

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"  

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter  

4. Check if the DTC is erased while Substituting with a known-good seat motor (slide, recline, front 

height, rear height) one after another.  

5. Is the DTC erased? 

YES  

Substitute with a known-good seat motor and check for proper operation. If the problem is 
corrected, replace seat motor and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
procedure. 

NO  

Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, 
or damage. 

Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR

DTC B2457 PEDAL MOTOR OR VCC ERROR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

DTC DESCRIPTION 

The ECM sets DTC B2457 if Ref. voltage of pedal motor sensor is below 1V. 

DTC DETECTING CONDITION 

DTC DETECTING CONDITION 

MONITOR DTC STATUS 

1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).  

2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".  

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.  

4. Is the DTC B1960 present? 

YES  

Go to TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION procedure. 

NO  

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and 
ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending,

"VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR" procedure. 

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION 

Refer to DTC B1954

SIGNAL CIRCUIT INSPECTION 

1. Check for open in harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Measure resistance between terminal "7" of IMS and terminal "2" of brake pedal sensor. 

Specification :Approx. 0 ohms

3. Is the measured resistance within specifications? 

YES  

Go to step 2. 

NO  

Check for open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

2. Check for short in harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Disconnect brake pedal motor.

3. Measure resistance between terminal "7" of IMS and chassis ground. 

Specification :Approx. infinity ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within specifications? 

YES  

Go to "POWER CIRCUIT INSPECTION" procedure. 

NO  

Check for short in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF 
VEHICLE REPAIR
" procedure. 

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION 

1. Check for open in harness 

1. Ignition "OFF".  

2. Measure resistance between terminal "27" of IMS and terminal "3" of brake pedal sensor. 

Specification: Approx. 0 ohms
