Loctite 

NOTE 

Loctite  type  and  suitable  cleaner  is  listed  in  the  relevant  chapter  in  the 
Materials table. 

(1)  Use of Loctite: 

(a)  Loctite is used on the aircraft when it is impossible to cotter pins/lock 

wire a fastener or if cotter pins/lock wire is impractical. 

(b)  Use only Loctite of the same type as that which was originally used. 

(c)  Application of Loctite should be accomplished at temperature above 

15°C to ensure proper curing. 

(2)  Prepare surface: 

(a)  Clean all parts to which Loctite is to be applied.  

(b)  Surfaces must be clean and free of dust, oil, grease, condensation, 

moisture, and other contaminations. 

(3)  Apply Loctite to threaded fasteners: 

(a)  Select correct type of Loctite. 

(b)  Clean threaded surfaces with suitable degreaser. 

(c)  Apply Loctite to threads by brushing, dipping, or running applicator 

over threads. 

NOTE 

Loctite  may  be  applied  to  either  the  nut  or  bolt;  however,  for 
blind hole applications, coat the sides of the blind hole and first 
two threads of the male fastener. 

(d)  Assemble parts and torque using normal torque (Chapter 20-10). 

(e)  Excessive Loctite may be removed using a cotton cloth dampened 

with cleaner.

21-00  GENERAL 

1.  INTRODUCTION 

The WT9 Dynamic LSA Club aircraft is equipped with heating and ventilation system 
that ensures delivery fresh ambient air and cockpit heating. 

The heating and ventilation system consists of hot and cold air running through a 
control box on the firewall. Cold air is received from the induction ram air tunnel. Hot 
air is received from air via the water radiator through the heat exchanger on the 
muffler box. Cold and hot air are selected by the controls on the lower central 
instrument panel.

1.  DESCRIPTION 

A. 

Cockpit ventilation 

Venting air comes from the ram air tunnel (1, Fig. 21-1) installed on the left side 
of lower engine cowling and directs through the air hose (2) to the control box 
(3). Amount of venting air entering the cockpit is controlled by the

Additional venting air supply the eyeball vents (5). The eyeball vents receive the 
venting air from the NACA intakes (6) located on the both sides of canopy. 
Venting air from NACA intakes is also distributed through the canopy frame to 
the small holes blowing the windshield. This air is regulated by

knobs (7) located on the both sides of canopy in front of eyeball vents. For 
ventilation also may be used sliding windows on the canopy.

(1)  Ventilation control removal:  

(a)  Make sure that the 

IGNITION

 switches are set to 

OFF

(a)  Remove the engine cowlings (Chapter 71-10). 

(b)  Unscrew cable end fitting (1, Fig. 21-3), remove shrink tube, and 

unsolder thread rod (2). 

(c)  From the cockpit, remove the inner cable by pulling handle (12). 

(d)  Remove cable tie (13), unstick adhesive tape (14), pull green sleeve 

(11). 

NOTE 

The ball can drop from green sleeve (11). 

(e)  Unscrew the nut (15), remove washer (16) and pull out control cable 

(9) from central console.

NOTE 

For  easier  removal  use  special  tool  (Fig.  21-2)  and  hex  key 
inserted on control cable end from cockpit side. 

(f) 

At engine side of firewall, remove screw shackle (4, Fig. 21-3), by 
removing lockwire (8), unscrew nuts (5) and remove washers (6; 7). 

(2)  Ventilation control installation: 

(a)  Make sure that the 

IGNITION

 switches are set to 

OFF

(b)  Thoroughly clean and lubricate all movable parts of the ventilation 

system with oil before each assembling. Refer to lubrication chart 
(Chapter 12-20). 

(c)  Control cable (9, Fig. 21-3) passes through central console (17). 

(d)  Rotate the control cable (9) so the ball is at the top. 

(e)  Slide washer (16) and tighten the nut (15) secure by using Loctite 

243. 

NOTE 

For better performance use special wrench (Fig. 21-2) and hex 
key inserted in control cable end from cockpit side.

(f) 

Insert the ball and simultaneously slide on the green sleeve 
(11, Fig. 21-3): 

  Push the green sleeve (11) just to first indication of minimal 

resistance. 

  Check for correct operation by pulling and pushing handle; the 

ball must engage with ratchet, movement must not be free. 

(g)  Apply two layers of textile adhesive tape (14) and lock it with cable tie 

(13). 

(h)  Insert the cable through hole on firewall. 

(i) 

Assemble screw shackle (4) with nuts (5) and washers (6; 7) and 
bowden end (3); put them on control cable (9) and secure them with 
lockwire (8). 

(j) 

Secure control cable (9) with cable ties (3.6 mm) along the length as 
required. 

(k)  Push handle (14) in, leaving a gap of 2 mm and set selector lever 

(20) to position flap fully open. 

(l) 

Cut inner wire to correct length, solder thread rod (2), slide shrink 
tube and screw on cable end fitting (1), and adjust end fitting to 
connect with nipple on bellcrank. 

(m)  Shrink the shrink tube on thread rod (2). 

(n)  Connect cable end fitting (1) to the lever (20). 

(o)  Carry out test and check: 

  If all screws connections are tight. 

  Operation of control flap (fully open and fully close). 

  That no foreign objects remain in the aircraft or engine 

compartment. 

(p)  Install the engine cowlings (Chapter 71-10).

1.  DESCRIPTION 

A. 

Cockpit heating 

The preheat air is received from the deflector (1, Fig. 21-4) installed behind the 
water radiator and directs through the air hose (2) to the exchanger (3) on the 
muffler to be heated. Hot air from the exchanger directs through the air hose (4) 
to the control box (5). Amount of warm air entering the cockpit is controlled by 
the

Control Box Removal / Installation

(f) 

Remove the heating deflector (26) (see Chapter 21-40, 2.C.(1)). 

(g)  Remove the heat exchanger (25) (Chapter 78-10). 

(h)  Remove air hose (20), by loosening hose clamp (23). 

(i) 

Disconnect control cables (8; 14) from selector box (1). 

(j) 

Remove cable end fitting (19) from cable (14). 

(k)  Remove screw shackle (15), by removing lockwire, unscrew nut (16) 

and remove washers (17; 18). 

(l) 

Remove the selector box (1) with rectifier warm air (2), by 
unscrewing the nuts (4), removing the washers (5) and bolts (3). 

(m)  As necessary, unscrew the nut (12), remove the washers (13; 10), 

bolt (9) and disconnect control cable (8) with P clamp (11) from 
firewall. 

(2)  Control box installation: 

(a)  Make sure that the 

IGNITION

 switches are set to 

OFF

(b)  Before installation of the heating and ventilation system parts, check 

free operating of selector box (1, Fig. 21-5), check the air hoses (20; 
21; 22) for cracks. 

(c)  If cracked use new air hoses. Apply two layers of sealing adhesive 

tape on each end. 

(d)  Thoroughly clean and lubricate all movable parts of heating and 

ventilation system with oil before each assembling (Chapter 12-20). 

(e)  From cockpit side, put the rectifier warm air (2) on firewall (24) and 

push the bolts (3); from engine side of firewall put the

 

selector box 

(1), washers (5) and tighten the nuts (4). 

NOTE 

If using a new selector box (1) push ball joints (6) on flap levers 
and tighten the nuts (7). 

(f) 

Slide air hose (20) at selector box (1) and secure with hose clamp 
(23). 

(g)  Install the heat exchanger (25) (Chapter 78-10). 

(h)  Slide air hose (20) on heat exchanger (25) and secure it with hose 

clamp (23). 

(i) 

Slide heating deflector (26) on air hose (22) and secure with hose 
clamp (23). 

(j) 

Install the heating deflector (26) (see 2.C.(2)). 

(k)  Slide air hose (21) on selector box (1) and secure with hose clamp 

(23) and cable tie (8 mm) to engine mount (under cable tie must be 
banded hose with sealing adhesive tape). 

(l) 

Install heating control cable (8) (see 2.D.(2)) and ventilation control 
cable (14) (see Chapter 21-20, 2.B.(2)).

NOTE 

Control cable for heating (8), instead of screw shackle, has a P 
clamp (11) installed on firewall with bolt (9), washers (10; 13) and 
nut (12). 

(m)  Seal the control cables in the firewall around the bowdens with 

gasket sealant. 

(n)  Install Airbox (Chapter 71-60). 

(o)  Check if hoses are firmly secured and sealed and check operation of 

heating and ventilation flaps (fully open and fully close). 

(p)  Install the engine cowlings (Chapter 71-10).
