11.12.7 Diagnostic information and steps 

11.12.7.1 Diagnosis descriptions 

Refer to 11.12.2 Description and Operation to get familiar with the system functions and operation 
before starting system diagnosis, so that it will help to determine the correct diagnostic steps, more 
importantly, it will also help to determine whether the situation described by the customer is 
normal. 

11.12.7.2 Visual inspection 

– 

Inspect the after-sales optional device which may affect the normal operation of horn. 

– 

Inspect components easy to access system to identify whether there is a significant damage 
that may lead to the fault. 

– 

If two horns don't work, it is necessary to inspect and repair power supply or bad grounding 
connection or short-circuit faults before diagnosing fault. 

Warning! 

You should comply with the safety operation procedures for the airbag strictly during the 
dismantlement and inspection of the horn clock spring. See "Warnings Regarding Airbag System". 

11.12.7.3 Horn switch contact adjustment 

The horn switch contact is likely to contact bad if the horn does not work discontinuously or the 
horn switch is invalid when pressing one side of the steering wheel; thus, at this time, the horn 
switch contact below the airbag at the side of the driver should be adjusted. 

Warning! 

You should dismantle the airbag module in strict accordance with the safety operation procedures 
for the airbag system. See "Warnings Regarding Airbag System".
