Process 

When the engine is in normal operation, the oil pressure generated by an oil pump 
plays the role on the VVT electromagnetic valve. 

ECM applies pulse width modulation 

signals to the VVT solenoid valve. If ECM wants the VVT to adjust the intake valve to the 
maximum lagging position, ECM controls the VVT solenoid valve to open by a degree of 0% and 
the oil pressure enters the lagging cavity of teh VVT actuator. Thus, the VVT rotor blade produces 
the displacement in the same direction with respect to the crank angle to ultimately remain in the 
maximum position.
