2.8.7.10 Engine Overheating 

Warning: Refer to "Warning on Maintenance of Cooling System" in "Warnings and 
Precautions".

Is there engine coolant loss?

Inspect for the sufficiency of the coolant concentration.

Inspect whether there is dust, leaves or insects and other debris at the radiator front? 

 

4 

Inspect for the leakage at the hoses, water pumps, engine coolant inlet components, 
radiator, core plug and cylinder hood gaskets. 

 

5 

Connect fault diagnosis tester, with the data flow showing the engine coolant 
temperature reaches 95  (203 

℃

°F ). Inspect the coolant temperature at the radiator 

inlet and outlet pipes. There should be no temperature difference. Is the temperature 
difference large? 

 

6 

Use ignition timing gun to inspect whether the ignition is too late. 

 

7 

Inspect whether the cooling fan is working properly. 

Yes 

Inspect engine ignition timing, carry out 
ECM diagnostic. 

No 

Yes 

1. Inspect whether the thermostat is working as per 
normal? 
2.Check  if  radiator was plugged or not .

Replace any damaged components.

Clean up the front of the radiator.

2.7.7.11Engine Does Not Reach Normal Operating Temperature

Inspect whether coolant recovery reservoir coolant level is abnormal?

Inspect the temperature of cooling system. 

A.  rotated ignition switch to OFF position    . 

B.  Connect fault diagnosis tester to diagnostic interface. 

C.  Rotated ignition switch to ON position    . 

D.  Select in sequence: Engine / Data List / Engine Coolant Temperature. 

E.  Maintain the engine speed at 2,000 rpm and observe the data flow for the engine coolant 

temperature. 

Does the engine coolant temperature increase?

Inspect whether the cooling fan rotates normally? 

 

4 

Inspect whether the thermostat is working normally? 

A.  Inspect whether the installed thermostat type is correct. 

B.  Inspect whether the thermostat is stuck at the open position.

Inspect whether the engine coolant pipes are blocked.

Road test vehicle, confirm the fault has been fixed.

2.8.7.12 Excessive Engine Coolant Loss
