WARNING: To avoid personal injury or death, during and following any seat belt or child restraint anchor
service, carefully inspect all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware, retractors, tether straps, and anchors
for proper installation, operation, or damage. Replace any belt that is cut, frayed, or torn. Straighten any
belt that is twisted. Tighten any loose fasteners. Replace any belt that has a damaged or inoperative buckle
or retractor. Replace any belt that has a bent or damaged latch plate or anchor plate. Replace any child
restraint anchor or the unit to which the anchor is integral that has been bent or damaged. Never attempt to
repair a seat belt or child restraint component. Always replace damaged or faulty seat belt and child
restraint components with the correct, new and unused replacement parts listed in the DaimlerChrysler
Mopar Parts Catalog.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before

further service.

2. Remove the outer front seat belt retractor covers,

(Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/COVER-OUTER
FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR - REMOVAL).

NOTE: Cowl trim panel for Quad Cab models
shown. Club Cab similar.

3. Remove the cowl trim panels, (Refer to 23 - BODY/

INTERIOR/PANEL-COWL TRIM - REMOVAL).

4. Remove the rear door sill scuff plates, (Refer to 23

BODY/INTERIOR/PLATE-DOOR

5. Disconnect the body wire harness connector (3)

from the seat belt tensioner initiator on the retractor
(1).

6. Remove the two screws (2) that secure the retrac-

tor mounting bracket to the floor panel inboard of
the door sill (4) and position the retractor aside.

NOTE: Electric front seats shown. Other seats
similar.

7. Remove the front seats, (Refer to 23 - BODY/

SEATS/SEAT-FRONT - REMOVAL).

8. Remove the floor console, (Refer to 23 - BODY/IN-

TERIOR/CONSOLE-FLOOR - REMOVAL).

9. Remove the rear jumper seat cushions, (Refer to

10. Remove the upper C-pillar trim panels, (Refer to

23 - BODY/INTERIOR/PANEL-C PILLAR UPPER
TRIM - REMOVAL).

11. Remove the lower C-pillar trim panels, (Refer to

23 - BODY/INTERIOR/PANEL-C PILLAR LOWER
TRIM - REMOVAL).

12. Remove the cab back trim panel, (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/PANEL-CAB BACK TRIM - REMOVAL).

13. Remove the jack storage compartment cover.
