(2) Using a suitable screwdriver, pry off and

remove speedometer drive gear (Fig. 52) (Fig. 53).

(3) If servicing only pinion and side gears, remove

ring gear-to-case bolts at pinion shaft retainer only
(Fig. 54). Remove pinion shaft retainer (Fig. 55). Dis-
card and use NEW bolts upon assembly.

(4) If servicing ring gear as well, remove remain-

ing ring gear-to-case bolts and remove ring gear from
case (Fig. 56).

(5) Remove pinion shaft (Fig. 57).

(6) Remove pinion gears, side gears, and thrust

washers (Fig. 58) (Fig. 59) (Fig. 60).

ASSEMBLY

(1) Install side gears, pinion gears, and thrust

washers into case through opening and rotating into
position (Fig. 61) (Fig. 62).

(2) Install pinion shaft (Fig. 63).

(3) If previously removed, install ring gear to dif-

ferential case (Fig. 64).
